David and Lorraine were great hosts for our two night stay. They were friendly and knowledgeable about the area. David went out of his way to show us around and helped us find open wineries (it was off season and mid week so some were closed). His recommendations for places to eat were very good - a great dinner at... More

We have just returned after 3 nights at The Martinborough Connection, a pleasant comfortable B&B within walking distance of Martinborough township. David and Lorraine are the friendly welcoming hosts and were knowledgeable about places to visit in the Wairarapa. Their B&B has 4 double bedrooms with ensuites. Our room was spotless and the bed comfortable. The ensuite had a toilet,... More

Very friendly hosts & excellent location just a stroll away from the square with restaurants etc. Rooms are spotless but very basic. No storage, no wardrobe, no suitcase rack, no TV, no seating other than 1 small dining type chair, no toiletries & no tea making facilities. Very small bathroom, & no means of ventilation apart from a tiny window... More

We found Lorraine and David Murray to be most congenial hosts. The bedrooms, all with ensuites, were very clean and well equipped. The B&B was very well placed for tours of the vineyards, and was even a short walk into town for supper. Breakfast was your choice of full English or continental and either way was delicious.

Our time at the Martinborough Connection was special, on 12/23, as the host family was starting to gather for Christmas. The B&B is very homey and we felt like part of the family, putting packages under the tree, sharing wine with the family and other guests in the evening and stargazing at the Southern Cross as the evening wore on.... NO wardrobe, no dressing table, no cupboard of any description, no TV, no radio, no phone,no suitcase rack, 1 straight backed chair between 2 people. A stark disappointment at the absence of niceties, no shampoo, no hairdryer. One of the tiniest shower rooms outside of a chain type of environment we have ever encountered. No tea/coffee facilities in the room,... More

I thought the "martinborough connection" was a really nice place, and feel that for $NZ 145 per night, it was very good value. I can't say I noticed any noise from the street but that was possibly because on a Tuesday night there is not much traffic. The rooms are certainly small and don't allow much storage space, but I... In a great location in town, only five minute walk to Martinborough Hotel. But we agree with the other reviews ..rooms are extremely small and close to each other..you can actually hear the people talking in the next room . Also located right next to the street so also get traffic noise as well. Cooked breakfast the next day was... More

This B&B is well located near town, on a main street which can be quite noisy. In fact noise was quite a problem for us - it's most disconcerting to be able to hear normal-volume conversations from adjoining rooms, and the lack of adequate soundproofing was quite disconcerting at times (!!). Although the bathroom was indeed ensuite, the sliding door... More

A delightful B&B withing walking distance to the Martinborough township. The hosts (Lorraine and David Murray) are a very friendly and helpful and endeavoured to make our stay as comfortable as possible. We enjoyed their company immensely and would have liked to stay longer than our 1 night.
