What it is - An excellent little rustic country getaway with nice people that run it. Still close enough to "town" that you don't have to pack every last thing, if you forget something a quick trip to Wal-Mart, etc. is possible. Not too expensive, cabins are cozy. What it isn't - An upscale hotel with all the trimmings and... More

Super friendly, really cool train caboose rentals that are really cute inside. But, who has a campground with a pool... and no hot water in the showers?? The public showers actually have pull valves (think M.A.S.H. TV series shower scene). Mostly this place seems like a hobby set up behind a junk yard. You'll see me more broken down vehicles... More

This is not a fancy campground, but it hits all the right notes. The bathhouse/bathrooms are clean, not immaculate but clean enough that almost anyone would be satisfied. Everything is sort of weathered, just right in my opinion. The location makes trips into the Shenandoah Park or really anywhere in the Valley or over to WV or to the battlefields... More

LOCATION – Nice rural location, easy to get to from the Swift Run gap junction of the Skyline Drive. Some amenities in the nearby town of Stanardsville. CABIN – Cabin was a converted caboose (railway carriage for the uninitiated!) It was a little more basic that I assumed from the description, but was clean and comfortable. Just about large enough... We stayed in one of the cabooses during our week-long honeymoon in central VA. It was very cute, but I will say it was very cozy (small). When we first arrived, it was dark and we had trouble finding the office. Our caboose was great for 2 people, but would not have been comfortable with any more than that. There... More

The site for our tent was nice, however keep in mind that it was one of the more "private" of the sites and we could still see our neighboring campers. Our site had a fire pit and grill, and also happened to have a nice view. Now, this place is perfect if youre just looking for a woodsy outdoor area... More

We have stayed here for the last 3 years - twice in the Cabin and once in the Caboose. The cabin in a good location with a lot of privacy. There is no running water inside or toliet but it's near by. The Caboose is fully loaded bathroom and kitchen. Others complain about the small bathroom but you have one... More

I am an experienced camper and prefer being out in the woods without a neighboring tent within snoring distance. This campground gets that. I got a large campsite for $25.00 that could have accommodated 4-5 tents easy with a nice rock fire pit and a grill. I went with my wife, my 3 year old son, (his first overnight camping... More
