We stayed in the green cottage - an old plantation house that had been remodeled into an efficiency cottage. It was plenty of room for 2 people. It was neat and clean and the manager was very responsive to our needs. This is an older property that has some wear. But it also has a great view to the ocean,... More

We stayed for one night in the green cottage, and overall were very happy with our stay. The cottage is clean and comfortable, and the view from the porch was wonderful. We also liked hearing the sound of cows and roosters while we sat on the porch -- this added to the relaxing feel of the place. There's no stove,... More

What a charming, little B&B and the view is SPECTACULAR! It is a quiet, relaxing spot that is pretty much midpoint between Hilo and Kona, so if you are doing a first trip to the Big Island, this is a great stopover. The cottage itself was very comfortable and a great value for the price. They had laundry and wifi... More

The setting of the cottage is beautiful and quiet, very relaxing. There's no breakfast or fixings provided. There are several geckos inside the cottage, and the manager says that "can't be helped since this is Hawaii," but that was not the case in any cottage I stayed in, including the other ones we stayed in that were in the rainforest.... We'd stayed at the blue cottage before, and came back as part of our trip on our 20th anniversary. This time we stayed at the green cottage. (they're practically identical). Once again, Sandy was a wonderful host. We love the tranquility of the location. It's tropical, quiet, beautiful view of the ocean below, and the peaceful town of Honoka'a. In... More

My husband and I stayed in the green cottage for 2 nights while exploring the Waipio Valley area. The cottage was very comfortable and more than adequate for our needs. While it could have been cleaner (ring in the tub and a few cobwebs), there were no bugs. We enjoyed relaxing out on the porch while looking out at the... More

Stayed in the blue cottage. Extremely easy to check in --> door was unlocked and keys on kitchen table. Nice, quiet location that was peaceful. The cottage itself was nice on first appearance. There were some lizards inside but this was to be expected. The place was swarming with ants. The worst part was getting a blanket from the closet... More

If you enjoy the wall-of-hotel or resort experience, this is not the rental for you. Luana Ola is for travelers who enjoy living amongst the locals and appreciate being surrounded by tropical forests. Honokaa is a fantastic little town and close to Waipio Valley and Tex Drive-In (yum-o). We've stayed here twice and absolutely love it. You can't beat the... More

We stayed in the green cottage for two nights, and really enjoyed it. Sandy allowed us to check in early, and since we needed a vacation from our vacation, we were happy to spend the afternoon lounging around the porch. Honoka'a is well situated to explore either the east or the west of the island (one day we went to... More

First off. It's no longer a B&B, so if that's an issue look for something else. Also, if you're looking for a sterile hotel experience, move on. However, if you want quiet, lush tropical foliage, fruit growing outside your door, and a relaxed pace of living, this is your place! The cottage is absolutely beautiful, and has a nice view... More
