The first thing you'll notice when you arrive at Papalani is that it's off the beaten track. You will be entering a pleasant escape from the normal accommodations you may be use to. Sybil and Tracy are the proprietors of these three private residences offered. Peaceful is the word for this jungle-like setting. You'll be surrounded by an orange morning... More

This is my first ever trip advisor review. I use the resources here all the time so thought I should finally give back. Sybil's place is perfect. If you are like me you search the internet for neat places to take your family. As Sybil once said to me it's time to jump in, you have found the perfect place... More

We stayed in the garden room for two nights in June 2011 with our two teenagers. The room was private, very large, with a tile floor, fans, three queen beds, an inside toilet, an outside shower with solar-heated hot water, and a little outside screen-enclosed kitchen. The outside shower was fun -- there are little white Christmas lights on it.... More

How anyone can write a bad review on Papalani is beyond belief. This is an OUTSTANDING place to stay. The owner, Sybil, is the nicest person any one could meet. She is the crown jewel in this island paradise. If one is looking for a relaxing enjoyable vacation Papalani is the place to go. The property is beautiful and the... More

Beautiful property, incredible vegetable garden which Sybil was incredibly generous with, spotless beautiful cottage with windows everywhere. The bedroom has windows with a view into the forest which has giant ferns and banana and palm trees. The cottage is very well equipped with everything you need. It's a perfect place to relax and it is close to hiking at the... More

We spent 3 days (2 nights) in Hana and loved every moment of out stay! The perfectly appointed 2 bedroom suite we stayed at was beautiful, spacious and incredibly comfortable. Sybil, the owner, is a very gracious hostess, welcoming and warm hearted. We highly recommend Papalani to anyone looking for tranquility and beauty in the lush tropical Hana.

First I must say that Sybil, the owner, is incredibly gracious, friendly and generous. She not only engaged with her customers, but also offered to pick up anything when she was going to "town." Hana is a lovely spot with the typical rain forest vegetation. Papalani is surrounded by banana, mango and papaya trees, as well as gorgeous flowers and... More

What can you say when an experience so far exceeds your expectations you can hardly describe it? It would be impossible to overstate the lush, tranquil beauty of this property. Located four driveways past mile marker 48 off the main highway on other side of Hana, this lodging has to be Maui’s best-kept secret. You turn into the driveway and... More

So everyone knows that Hana is hard to get to, exclusive, special, and expensive but worth it. Staying at the Papalani actually removes the last item of the list, as it is great value, but just as special, and maybe more private and with more personal service than the big, classic competitor up the road. The guest house my family... More

Pros: 1) Great location, just walking distance from the Venus pool and a short drive from other sites in Hana and Kipahulu. 2) Clean, spacious room. 3) Friendly staff and residents. 4) Competitively priced. Cons: 1) There were no drapes in the room or bathroom (except for those on the door). If one of your neighbours (there are a few... More
