Totally enjoyed our stay here, Sure, the rooms were small, and the bathroom was tiny, but that's pretty typical in SF. The room was spotless and the bed was very comfy. The WIFI worked well. The staff was super helpful and very friendly. No A/C, but there was a ceiling fan. Location was perfect--close to cable car stop and tour... More

I read all the reviews about noise and small rooms in San Francisco. The Larkspur certainly fits this description. But please read to the end of this review for "the rest of the story". Our room and bathroom were small but we did have a very large walk-in closet. The bed was very nice and the shower was unbelievable. For... More

Dear meenunclemike, Your boss is a genius. One of my favorite lines “you don’t DO San Francisco, you EXPERIENCE San Francisco.” I am sending that one straight to my marketing department. Staying in a boutique hotel in downtown San Francisco is not for everybody, but it should be. You described the experience so well. We know our rooms run on... More

I stayed here for a week (for the second time) and I really like this hotel. It's in a great location, the rooms are just fine. To give some perspective on other comments, the rooms are small, but not by European standards. The bathroom is functional, the shower worked better than most hotels and there is tons of storage space... More

I booked this trough bookings.com because it was 50% less exspensive than Monaco hotel. After arriving, i asked to add an additional night but that couldn't be done on same price. People are friendly, room is basic (no airco!)

Rooms are small, and bathrooms are tiny, but who goes to San Francisco to sit in a hotel room? This neat little boutique hotel is staffed by friendly professionals who are kind and helpful. Hotel location is brilliant ... 2 minutes walk to cable car stop, 2 minutes to Lori's Diner, 3 minutes to Sears Restaurant, 5 minutes to Union... More

Dear Chesspoint, Thank you for your perfect review. You did a great selling our concept. We do not shy away from the fact that our rooms run on the small side. We provide comfortable accommodations and friendly service in the most vibrant area of San Francisco. We want you to get out and enjoy our city. Please check out website... More

The Larkspur is located a short distance from the heart of Union Square. It is a small hotel, with a tiny but beautiful lobby area witha big window overlooking the street. Right off of the lobby is a quaint and welcoming little bar called "1915", next to a quiet area with a big fireplace and comfy seating, nice to warm... More

Dear LeoLadyUpperMidwest, Wow! I love your review. I think your title "Older hotel, but lots of charm" is a perfect way to describe our hotel. After a day of touring or shopping what can be better than returning to Bar 1915 for a nice glass of wine while you unwind by our fireplace. I was happy to read you took... More

With the exception of room being small and a really tiny bathroom, its not a bad hotel. The service was better than average and prompt! I only gave it a 3 rating because of the above and it was noisy in the room, with thin walls so you heard every door open and close and every toilet flush. My view... More

Dear jaberwockey, Thank you for taking the time to review our hotel. I was glad to read you found our service to be good and prompt. We are an older hotel that has pretty much kept its original floor plan, which means our rooms are going to run on the small side. There is not much we can do with... More

We had tickets to a comedy show at the Warfield, so we got a great deal on our stay at the Larkspur hotel. It was very close to the venue and centrally located in general. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. Parking is slightly inconvenient, as the garage is a couple blocks away but the staff there are very... More

We absolutely agree with “liveinaryokan Ipswich”. We were there in March 2012 for two days. Yes, the room was on the small side, and we didn’t have a view – but we too were not in San Fransisco to sit in a room all day. We were there to enjoy what San Fransisco had to offer us as first time... More
