My husband and I stayed at the Palace for four nights recently during a vacation to San Francisco. We chose the hotel because of its historic character and we were definitely not disappointed. The lobby was breathtaking and the rooms had some old world touches, including extremely high ceilings. We did not rent a car for our trip, but we... More

This lovely old special place disappointed us recently with a bed that was in need of a new mattress. Otherwise a comfortable room, we were glad we were only there one night when the mattress springs were so "noticeable". Not acceptable for the quality of the place.

Stayed there for four nights with my husband. It´s a nice and traditional hotel, but there´s nothing really special there. Nor the rooms or services. We got a a grand deluxe room. Ok, it had a great size, but at the bathroom (for me sometimes more important than the room), just one sink. The shower was some plastic old shower,... More

The Palace Hotel in San Francisco's Financial District is a historic luxury hotel that is a part of the Starwood luxury collection. I was in town for business and since it wasn't more expensive than a traditional business traveler's hotel, I thought I would give it a try. The hotel lives up to its name from the moment you walk... I loved the history and beauty of this hotel - the Garden room and ball rooms are really amazing, there are huge bouquets of flowers in the lobby and atrium. My room also had the high ceilings found in the public area. It was neither huge nor tiny. There was plenty of counter space in the bathroom (sometimes lacking in... More

We were so pleased that we decided to stay here instead of the other "fancy" places people recommended us. We checked them out in our travels, and none were finer than the Palace. The public areas were just beautiful; grandiose, but very tastefully done. Our standard room was lovely also, with nice fittings and furniture. Looking at some of the photo's... More

The biggest drawback to the hotel is that you can hear every word and noise coming from the next room. One suggestion: when possible, do not assign guests to rooms adjacent to other occupied rooms.

The Palace is a beautiful old building. I had 2 nights in a comfortable well-decorated high ceilinged room with a street view. Superbly situated with a BART station on the airport line at the door. Staff attentive. The palace jewel is the Garden Room, the main dining area. Large elegant, with golden marble columns, spectacularly intricate glass ceiling and detailed... More

I stay here often on business and never fail to be overwhelmed by relaxing in the spectacular center atrium of this grand hotel. It's the best thing about the Palace Hotel. The breakfast buffet in the atrium is expensive but absolutely worth it for the ambiance and good food. After coming in from a day of business meetings or touring,... More

The Palace is so convenient to many places - we walked to union square, ferry building and AT&T park. Mongtomery Bart Station is right outside the Market St door. Staff was generally nice...the concierge person, Debbie Lew, was the friendliest and so caring! The front door staff was great and very knowledgeable. Front desk was so-so...didn't really greet us with... More
