Not a single complaint. This is truly a spotless hotel to stay, sad we only spent 2 night in SF. Why wast money with fancy hotels if you have this gem so centrally located.
I stayed here a few years ago and liked the Chancellor. Came back in an updated room, room 1005, and it was a great stay. This room is an inside room, its window has limited view of Union square and a fire escape ladder crosses right outside the window. If good view is what you need, this room may not...

Thanks for coming back! We know there are a lot of choices out there and appreciate you giving us another chance after a few issues that may have caused others to not try us again.

As all the other reviews rooms are smaller than other hotels we stayed in during our 2 week road trip in CA but have stayed in smaller! Staff on reception are fantastic, Rory is very helpful. Also have a ticket box in reception to book tours, travel & we also bought 2 tickets for San Fran Giants at reception too....

I am booked to stay at this hotel in July and will update this after my stay about the actual hotel but I did have to share my experience with booking and getting information about my stay from the staff. Nowadays feeling genuinely taken care of by a hotel isn't expected. You checkin, you check out. The end. But from...

This hotel just has a good vibe. It does all the little things right. The room, though not big, was clean and well laid out (though I would have sacrificed the walk in closet for more bathroom space). The staff is friendly and helpful. The ever present coffee, apples, popcorn and cookies and a choice of complementary newspapers are all...

I rate this hotel average only because the rooms were a little on the old side and had
that old smell to it. Kinda of a personal thing.
The bathroom was nice and clean but the bed was the best part of the room really very nice, we slept like a baby. The location was fantastic right at Union Square with...

I must say that it is quite unfair to give an overall score of average because of a "kinda personal thing." If the old smell was a overall hotel issue, it would be mentioned frequently. And...as I have said many times, if you don't like anything about the room you are assigned, let us know and 99% of the time...

In terms of location, the Chancellor hotel couldn't get any better - (a) just a few minutes walk from the Powell St. BART station (which goes to / from the airport), (b) on union square so very near Westfield Shopping centre and also a nice enough area and (c) on the Fisherman's Wharfcable car route. It's also near a lot...

I am very sorry for the miscommunication on the pillow request. It should not take 3 requests to get anything - EVER. I don't know what happened, but I will look into it and speak with the desk staff.
I appreciate that our one shortfall did not sour the overall visit and you will be back again. Let me know...

The hotel is very close to Union Sq.The cable car runs in front of the hotel. You can buy public transport tickets in the lobby-area (opens at 9 am) or in the Walgreens on the corner. A lot of places to eat and drink close to the hotel.
Stayed here in April. Rooms are of normal, European, size. The hotel...

I've gone to the chancellor for more than a decade. In my experience, service--especially front desk and housekeeping--is consistently excellent. The place opened in 1914 so most rooms are small (but they have big ones) & there is no air conditioning. Neither one has ever been a problem to me. The rooms are consistently clean and bright, bathrooms impeccable, and...

I booked the Chancellor Hotel based on Trip Advisor reviews and was not disappointed. It is a quaint hotel located right in the heart of Union Square. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. Although the rooms were small, they were clean and comfortable. My only complaint was the noise from nearby construction that came through our open window at...
