OVERVIEW: We're a late 30's couple who booked a night here at the end of a longer San Fran trip. We had a flight scheduled for the next morning (a Saturday). Long story short, we lasted 3 hours at the Phoenix before checking out due to sustained and excessive music and partying noise. POSITIVES: The front-desk guy was totally cool... More

Dear Guest, Thank you for your very well thought out, honest and direct review for your short stay with us. I appreciate the time and effort that you placed in reviewing our property and I am happy to hear that there were some positives to a negative experience with us. I have taken your concerns to the management of Chamber's... More

Staff is excellent, a heated pool, parking, & restaurant on site = Very comfortable stay! Some think the "Tenderloin" neighborhood is sketchy, but it really isn't at all! The Phoenix is centrally located. The bed was comfy! I liked the complimentary morning treats with coffee by the pool. The only complaint would be the noise factor with music/people by the... More

It's true - Phoenix Hotel is in the Tenderloin. This is the only possibly negative thing I can say about the place. There are some sketchy types on the sidewalks nearby, but my husband and I walked around until nearly midnight and never felt threatened. We'll go back again despite the Tenderloin, as it's a good bargain and very centrally... More

Love this hotel. We've stayed multiple times and this is our go to spot when we want to stay in San Francisco. The location is easy to get to and close to several music venues. The rooms are comfortable with everything that you need. (Fridge, ipod dock, tv, comfy bed, hair dryer...) The outdoor space is my favorite part... the... More

+ Tenderloin area is sketchy but the hotel area felt very safe and it's definitely an oasis in the urban jungle. Staff was very friendly and helpful, room was spacious and had a nice decor. I loved the midcentury motor hotel atmosphere and colours. They put a lot of effort in this, in the room was a postcard from how... More

This was a great place to stay in San Fran. We go to the city a lot and usually find something on Hotwire for somewhere around $150 and then end up paying for parking. This place offered free parking. It saved us a ton of money and the price for the room was under $150. The reception area is cute... More

Though this hotel is popular with musical groups of different sizes, it does not suffer for it. In other words, its remarkably quiet, especially at night during snooze time. The pool courtyard is almost an oasis when one realizes/hears the noise from outside (car traffic, ermergency vehicle sirens, street "screamers.") Can't say enough good things about its location & ease... More

I love this hotel, fantasticly clean, cool but not pretencious. Fantasticly friendy and thoughtful staff with an excellent local knowledge. Before we went, people had warned me that Tenderloin was dodgey.... there are homeless people, but they don't beg like in European cities and I actually felt safe when walking around. The hotel is kind of on the edge of... More

I love this place! Expect clean kitch rooms, great customer service and the Chambers across the way serves great cocktails and food. We saw two different tour buses parked up in the time we spent there proving this place is pure Rock'n'Roll. I will definitely return here when staying in San Francisco.

Even though the neighborhood is sketchy, The Pheonix itself is still a fun place to stay. The staff are always young, hip and friendly and the new bar/restaurant, Chambers, is still swanky. The upgrades to the pool area are also really cool. The pool itself must be heated because there was a father/son swimming about 7-8pm the night we stayed.... More
