This is a good hotel. I was very impressed when I stayed here, I arrived at 6am in the morning (check in was not until 3pm that afternoon) and the hotel staff was able to check me in, asked if I was a AAA member to receive a discount on parking my car in the hotel parking garage and also... More

San Francisco is an expensive spot and find good price hotels it´s no easy, but the The Opal is one those places, decent and cleans rooms, easy to get public transportation to major turistic places( Pier 39, Fisherman Wharf, Union Square, etc), drugstores and convenience stores nearby. The only issue is related to the neignhborhood in the back: Tenderloin, is... More

The Opal is a great middle of the road accommodation option when staying in SF. I stayed for 2 nights and booked through Expedia...I probably paid over the odds for my room....but the Bay to Breakers was on the weekend I was there and accommodation was in short supply. The staff are fantastic...they quickly got me up to speed with... More

Right now in my king room. You are getting what you paid for. Room is super small and need improvement. Lobby is clean with fresh coffee not the best quality but free :) Check in was easy and concierge were friendly and even tried to make some jokes. Wil not stay here next time but no problems so far.

The Opal is a three star hotel so we did not expect too much from it. It was ok - but only just. The hotel frontage is tired and plain, but the lobby is very pretty with nice welcoming decoration throughout. We arrived to find the outer door was secured against entry and we had to be let in by the... More

The place is a bit dated. It's almost historical. Old phones, TV, bed, and bathroom--all of them should be retired. They recycle, but they give you pastic cups?? The staff is great, but it's the only thing here that is top-notch. The contenetial breakfast is not going to make you forget any good ones you might have experienced at other... More

Stayed here for 5 nights in April. Is in a great location, friendly staff , helpful with respect to touring the city as well. Breakfast is nothing extravagant but sufficient. The staff clean the rooms everyday thoroughly. The rooms are quiet even though they are on the main roads. The room rate included free wifi in the rooms and breakfast.... More

My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights in February on our anniversary trip to SF. We got a great deal on our via Travelocity and for what we paid I didn't expect much- just a clean room and decent bed to sleep on. I was pleasantly surprised to find out we ended up with a King bedroom (thought... More

Staff members at the Opal go out of their way to ensure that you have a good experience. The hotel has a charming lobby, with fresh coffee and a good assortment of teas at the ready. Breakfast is average, but again, with great service, and the fact you get a breakfast for the reasonable price is fantastic. Rooms have double... More
