A slice of old San francisco in a very handy position. A short stroll from fisherman's wharf, bicycle hire places, Alcatraz tours, dining district etc. Small rooms with limited amenities but clean and quaint. I'd stay again.

The first thing I noticed about the San Remo was the smell...Of cleanliness. We normally stay at 3 & 4 star resorts but don't want to pay an arm and a leg in SF. We paid $69 (each roon) for adjoining rooms where each had a sink. The bathroom toilets and showers (which are separate) are very clean and didn't... More

If you want to be in walking distance to Fishermans Wharf this could not have been much better. This is the second time I have stayed here and would do so again. The downside is the lack of lift with the reception on the first floor and if you want a tv then stay somewhere else. Now that they have... More

No the San Remo is not luxurious. Yes, you have to share bathrooms (they are very clean). But this place has more character than most and I have nothing but fond memories. Ask for a corner room (some of the interior rooms are small) and ask to be away from the bathrooms (being right across the hall from them can... More

We arrived here without having booked anything. 2 kinds of rooms: the cheapest at 80$ (without sink, bathroom, toilet and no window) and another kind more expensive at 100$ (with only à sink and a window more). The common parts of the hotel are quite prety, but the bathrooms are really small. Furthermore, the location is not very nice, near... More

I chosen this hotel as wanted to stay close to North Beach area and didn't want to sped the fortune. Was slightly worried about shared bathroom facilities but San Remo turned out to be really sweet and clean place to stay! So here are the pluses... - walking distance to Fisherman's Wharf and Columbus - great for discovering North Beach,... More

I love this hotel! It's small, quaint, and charming; great views of the city (especially from the 3rd- floor rooms facing west); ideal location in North Beach; rooms and bathrooms are very clean; beds are comfortable; staff is friendly and helpful. And did I mention that the rates are unbelievably affordable? Especially for a hotel in the heart of The... More

I've stayed here on three different occasions and always enjoy it. The location is perfect and the place is always so clean. Some of the rooms are nicer than others and they are all small but they are all clean and frankly, I don't come to SF to hang out in the rooms. The quirkiness and genuine feel of the... More

First trip to San Francisco and was looking for a budget hotel with no bed bugs in a family location that would feel safe and be easy to explore from. Very very delighted with the San Remo. The staff are so lovely and make you feel right at home and couldn't be more helpful - they even took care of... More

I had researched this hotel and to be honest booked it for the low price as I was on a strict budget and I I was reluctant to stay looking at pictures online. It looked like a homey old place. Yes it is old, but has meaning and history but even with that very well maintained and kept up .... More
