Great location, spacious, comfortable. Ticks most boxes. Street noise can be intrusive. Not sure why US hotels don't double glaze.

Excellent location. I valued the kitchnette. The hotel is beeing renovated. Our lovely renovated room -with a nice street view- was a bit noisy, though in the 8th floor. May be non renovated rooms aren't so nice, the same about those facing the back of buildings.
We were very happy with our choice of the Donatello Hotel. The location was perfect for everything we wanted to see and access to public transport was quick and easy. Access to Union Square, cable cars, etc was perfect.
Valet parking (although on the expensive side) was quick and friendly as were all the hotel staff we encountered.
The rooms...

As mentioned by other reviewers, the hotel is conveniently located. You can easilly walk from here to Chinatown and Ferry Building. We even walked from the hotel up to North Beach (the Italian neighborhood), Filbert steps, and Fisherman's Wharf. From there, we took the cable car (Power Mason line) back to Union Square. There are nice restaurants in the area,...

We stayed at the Donatello for 4 nights, 3 days in mid-May as the first stop on our tour of California. The hotel was great since it allowed us to easily use public transportation anywhere we wanted to go in San Francisco. The staff were friendly and very helpful when my dd needed to print something and get it faxed...

This hotel is truly awful. It's old and without its charms, which makes it a bad option.
Has anyone mentioned it's across the road from a nightclub called Ruby Sky, that plays deafening music until the wee hours of the morning? Add to that the noise from their drunken patrons as they roll out of the venue.
I don't know...

The upper floors are owned by a different company than the lower floors, and the upper floors have been recently renovated. Our room (8th floor) was quite spacious with a small kitchenette area (small refrigerator and microwave, a couple of plates, bowls, silverware, etc.), and the TV also had a DVD player. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They...

The building is old, but you...

We had an extremely spacious room, which was very clean and the most comfortable bed we've ever encountered! The location is perfect for sightseeing - a short walk to Union Square and various forms of transport including the hop on/hop off buses and the metro. We didn't try the in-room dining because it seemed quite expensive - and you don't...
