Perfect location if you like to be in the center of anything, easy access to the cable cars and buses and trolleys, loads of shopping around. The service at the hotel was excellent, we got upgraded to a larger room and it was beautiful, a little noisy at night as it faced the street but we were so tired we...

We arrived by the BART train (direct from San Francisco international airport to Powell station) which took about 45 minutes and cost $8.10 one way. Powell station is literally minutes away from the hotel. We were staying four nights at the hotel however there was a problem with our booking - only one bed and not two as requested. We...

The room was very small, with a tiny window, the mattress was very poor quality and you could hear the springs each time you attempted to move. The first night I stayed in a room with a queen size bed and at the moment of inspecting the sheets I found a few highly visible long black hairs. The furniture was...

At the start of another OE we spent the first three nights here.Great place, central to everything, super staff especially "Jewel" and he was! Clean and lovely redecorated rooms.
You can't find a better location for doing touristy things, but the hotel, being old, has odd sloping floors and small rooms. I had to walk uphill to get to the window! The windows are high up on the walls and don't offer much a view. However, the bathroom was spacious and clean.
My husband booked this for us to attend the Roger Waters show at AT&T Park. This location was in the heart of transportation & shopping hubs It was difficult to get a cab , so be open to other transportation options such as town cars & public transit. There are some homeless, panhandler types hanging around, but not beyond what...

For Mother's Day I took my wife to San Francisco to see Roger Waters "The Wall" at AT&T Park.
I wanted a reasonably priced room nearby and the Hotel Union Square fit the bill perfectly! The staff was Great! The location was superb and to top it all off, next door was Tad's Famous Steaks!
Perhaps the best 15.00 steak...

The main selling point of the hotel is the location on the Powell BART station and the trolleys on Market Street. Thus, you can get to anywhere in the bay area with ease. The Powell cable car is next door, so knock yourself out if want to do that. Was it noisy outside? The same as any hotel in any...

Hotel Union Square is in a great location if you love to shop. You're in walking distance to the mall, and a ton of upscale stores.
This boutique hotel is small but the staff are very friendly and our room was always kept clean. Don't expect a spacious room- the size reminded me of hotels in NYC, but location, and...
