Charming, antique setting in the country, huge property to explore, and charming hosts make this a wonderful escape. The prices do appear higher, but they have no minimum length of stay, their rooms have more amenities such as real fireplaces and jetted tubs, (except TVs and internet connectivity--which we wanted to get away from anyway), and you can probably expect... The proprietors could not have been nicer... that's why I hate to say anything negative! There are no TVs in the rooms (I admit, we should have read the description more thoroughly), and we never could get the wifi to work. If you're not a dog person, a word of caution: there are lots of lively dogs here, and the... More

Wonderful farm B&B close to Appomatox, without being in the city. Beautifully rebuilt farm house with outbuildings and a wonderful mix of eclectic rooms. Joe and Emily are splendid hosts and the breakfasts are delicious. Be sure to ask Joe about the driving tour of the the surrender route and his clocks. Both are worth checking out. If you have... While I'm sure Spring Grove would be a great getaway as a B&B- I also wanted to share my experience with it as a wedding venue this past June. My now new wife and I ended up choosing Spring Grove as the location for our wedding after a lot of searching in and around our hometowns. We were convinced that... More

We visited for one night in the dogwood cottage recently. It was a great cottage. The only problem we had was with the smell on the first floor. The smell was like a concentrated version of a camp smell - musty and overbearing. We would not stay in the cottage again, but we would definitely stay in the main hotel.... More

On a recent trip to Appomattox, we had the great good fortune to discover Spring Grove Farm - Emily & Joe Sayers' marvelous Bed & Breakfast. The facility, which has been lovingly restored and expanded, is world class. The gardens and surrounding countryside, the beautifully appointed rooms, and the bright welcoming breakfast area, made our stay memorable. Our hosts were... More

We've stayed at B&B's around the world but Spring Grove Farm matches up with the best of them. We booked two rooms for a graduation at Longwood University; many others were there for Liberty U's graduation. This B&B boasts the nicest and most helpful hosts (Emily and Joe Sayers) that you could ever imagine...nothing is too much trouble. The B&B... More

My husband spent a fabulous weekend in early April 2008 to celebrate our 10th anniversary. The innkeepers were absolutely wonderful. We stayed in the cottage. There are no pictures of the cottage on the B&Bs website, but there should be. It's close enough to the house to easily run in for a cookie or extra soda, but far enough to... More

My wife and I stayed at Spring Grove on Valentines Day for our 3rd anniversary. We chose the carriage house suite which was quite the romantic setting. On the website, it is the same room as the bridal suite. We enjoyed the jacuzzi tub while looking out at the stars and built a fire in the fireplace in our room.... More

We stayed here for an anniversary over Veteran's Day weekend 2005. Owners were great and had champagne on ice waiting for us upon check-in. House is amazing. Originally built in 1842 and restored -- and expanded -- by the owners over several years of work. The nice thing is they preserved some of the good stuff, like the creaky floors,... More
