The old greek man needs to shut this place down before someone sues him. The room wasn't worth $50 a night. We will never stay there again. I would recommend you steer clear of the Mountaineer Inn.

We had a horrible experience here. The first two rooms we were given smelled strongly of mold. We pulled back the sheets to find that the mattresses were covered in black mold. We moved and one of the new rooms had a fresh hole in the wall under the sink where a mouse or rat had dug its way out....

We got the room right next to the manager's office for 55$, apparently they have better rooms for 65$ so maybe it would be worth trying those out. Our room was straight out of a David Lynch movie with old and dysfunctional TV, a bright green plastic armchair and a dark wooden closet. The mattresses were old and hollow and...

Ok I'm going to remain annoymus for personal and legal reason's. But this entire hotel is infested with rat's and bedbug's. And yes thee Old Greek man does come across very nice but thats just a cover up b cuz of the very poor condition this hotel is in. I had to end up going to my family doctor once...

This is an older hotel. Our 2 rooms were clean and the owner was very nice. The breakfast was simple and good. Not far from the Biltmore Estate. I would definitely stay again.
This place is a gem. Although it does not offer high star accommodations, it is very clean, the staff very friendly, the rooms are ample in size and the location couldn't be better. It is near a mall, many restaurants, and only 1.5 miles from the center of Asheville. I will definitely be back there again. The only drawback -...

We rented a room at the Mountaineer Inn, assuming that the old fashioned, backwoods theme was a silly marketing gimmick meant to attract tourists. We were wrong. While incredibly cheap, the room was barely habitable. The furniture and appliances were at least a quarter-century old, and it looked like it had been at least that long since the carpet had...

We wanted an inexpensive weekend in Asheville, so we booked the cheapest room at the Mountaineer Inn. When we arrived in early March, the lovely owner upgraded us to the more modern rooms at no extra cost. OK! so it had a CRT TV, but, so what! It was clean and comfortable. The breakfast was basic, but at the price...

This motel is clean and the staff are friendly. They don't rush you to check out if you over sleep. Its got a great location, and is far enough away from the road to not be noisy. No it's not a 5 star hotel. It is however comfortable, and reasonable if your on a budget. I've stayed here about 6...

My husband and I came to Asheville for a weekend getaway with friends. We waited until the last minute to book a hotel, and the mountaineer inn was one of the only places left. We did not expect much, since we paid $45 for our room, which was a good thing... It was pretty bad! Very old rooms, spiders throughout...
