I frequently travel for business. People make the difference. The Lafayette has recently been remodeled. The pool side room had LCD television, room to work, WiFi, and comfortable queen size beds. They have upgraded the "Continental" breakfast to a full service "CAFE" that had a marvelous steel cut oatmeal with sliced macadamia nuts !! For my next visit, the pork... More

I am not one to write reviews, but in this case I had to find the time and make an exception. This is my first time staying at the Lafayette hotel, and I can assure you that it will not be the last. It was a very busy day when me and my family stayed. There was a Fashion Show... More

This place is a gem. From the second I walked in to the establishment I was floored by the very modern and posh style. But love that they show their pride in their very prestige history. The front desk was extremely helpful and made me feel right at home from the moment I walked in. Melissa was very pleasant, helpful... More

I am not one to write reviews, but in this case I had to find the time and make an exception. I travel throughout California on business. As a frequent guest of the Lafayette, the one thing that keeps me coming back is their excellent customer service. From making my reservation to the time I check out, the staff at... More

They are just completing a renovation that brings this "hotel for the movie stars" into the 21st century. The flavor of the old days on El Cajon Boulevard hangs in the air. Unusually large rooms, decently if simply appointed, make this a comfortable place to stay at a good price. Maybe best of all is that there are three really... More

We stayed here due to the high price of hotels downtown - and it didn't disappoint. Our poolside room was spacious and although we didn't actually use the pool due to time constraints it seemed well frequented and was open long hours. The public rooms were nicely decorated and staff very friendly. Free parking a bonus and very close to... More

I have been staying at The Lafayette Hotel for many years. It used to be part of the Inn-Suites chain. It's located along El Cajon Blvd. between North Park and Normal Heights. It's a short drive from Balboa Park and the San Diego Zoo, and not too far from the beach. They've been renovating the place over the last couple... More

As I know San Diego quite well, I chose the Lafayette for the reasons of price, location, free parking and free wifi. It is a historic hotel in a nice residential neighborhood, near restaurants, and away from the I-8 (Mission Valley) where a lot of the motels are or downtown where parking is impossible or very expensive. Nevertheless, freeway access... More

It was just remodeled - very nicely done. Very comfortable bed and I've stayed in luxury hotels in Vegas - comfort level was the same which is amazing for half the price. Flat screen and ipod docking station. Staff was nice and helpful. Parking is gated underneath the hotel. Great location - safe neighborhood and near some really good restaurants.... More
