Some rooms are not like the others. No, it is not about the size, or the view. Maybe about the "decor" and definitely privacy. The hotel knows it. And is know for it online. Yeah, sure, some guests are real tourists, but not all. Far from it. So, stay off the 9th floor.

This is an older hotel. It has a certain charm because of the vintage decor in the lobby. There simply is not much in the way of lodging on Manhattan's Upper West Side, and this is a very good choice at reasonable prices. The location on Broadway is extremely convenient with a subway station just steps away, and the Symphony Space theater virtually off the street. There is no restaurant in the hotel but there are numerous restaurants close by. The rooms are spacious and well equipped with large screen television, microwave, refrigerator, and coffee maker. The furnishings are a bit shabby, but the beds are quite comfortable. Hot water takes a while to arrive on the upper floors, but is sufficient. The hotel does impose one of those dreaded daily "resort fees" for no particular reason other than that they seem to be able to do it. This is simply an annoyance in an otherwise satisfactory lodging situation. The staff at the hotel is friendly and helpful. Check-in was easy, and the staff was very accommodating.

The location was good for me, but the room was outdated, with peeling wallpaper, cracked tiles in the bathroom, and generally looking old. It was clean though, and towels and sheets changed daily. It definitely needs a major update, but it was reasonably priced so you get what you pay for.

As NYC is recognized to be pricey regarding accommodations, this hotel would be considered as a budget lodging establishment. If a traveler’s priority includes “relatively” lower lodging cost while staying in this part of Manhattan, then this may be a suitable option. Keeping in mind that budget hotels usually mean no frills or extras and bare minimum. Staff was polite and helpful, considering it is NYC. It met my basic needs while I conducted the business I was in town for.

I DO NOT RECOMMEND! I stayed at this hotel for 6 days and 1700 dollars were stolen from my bag! When I realized it, I went down to the reception to announce it and was told that the manager would come in the morning and he would be able to look in the system if someone entered the room. The next morning, the man at the reception extremely mean told me that the manager is on his day off and that he will not come today. Meanwhile, I called the police. The next day, this Manager did not help us at all, he barely looked at us when we were talking and told us that the cameras were not working, but he checked and no one entered the room. I asked for a phone number/email of a CEO. I sent an email but no one answered. The next morning when we were leaving, I saw someone else at the reception and I asked for a number of a CEO and when I showed him what this manager gave me, he told me that it was an incorrect email and that there is no CEO with that name ! PLEASE AVOID THIS HOTEL! They are hand in hand and steal from the rooms

I read the reviews before booking and was neither surprised not disappointed that the hotel was grungy. I had things to do within walking distance of the hotel and the location was ideal. I paid extra for a "club" room after calling the hotel and being told that club rooms have been more recently updated. The room smelled like mold or fungus when I entered, but that went away after the air conditioner started cooling the room. The AC was very good. The bed and bathroom were fairly clean, but the carpet, walls, and other high touch surfaces were not so nice. There was a refrigerator in the room and it worked. There were four bulbs in the ceiling and each illuminated with a different brightness and/or color. These lights were on a dimmer, but the knob was missing. A pile of towels remained near the elevator from morning until after 10pm at night. One of the 2 free water bottles in my room was half empty. Disappointing - but to be expected given the cleaning staff's attention to detail. The hotel is a reasonable option for those who want to stay in the neighborhood or others on a budget. It is very close to the subway.

This is the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. We booked at the last minute due to our flight cancellation. I’m pretty sure there were bedbugs. The bathroom light kept going off on us. All the ice machines were broken. The shelf literally fell down on me while I was on the toilet. The room was old, smelly, and dirty. There was a shooting a block over on the night we stayed here. I regretted not saving $200 and napping on an airport chair instead

Do not stay here: The hotel is dirty, smelly, tired and old. My room was in a stair well, nasty carpets, holes in the walls, loose outlets, broken blinds, broken tiles in bathroom, the toilet wouldn’t stop refilling, faucets were faulty. $14.99 for “resort fee” for crappy patchy wifi and two bottles of water. For $200 you’d be much better off in a modern hostel. Don’t do it!

I booked this on Expedia for a night to enjoy the city. On the Expedia site, it said there was a free charging station on premises for my rental car, which is the only reason I booked this hotel, as there were many hotels in the same price range. I arrived at the hotel and was waiting to pull up in front of the hotel for about 5 minutes while another driver took up 2 parking spots to let another guest out. I got into the hotel and the front desk rep said there is no free charging station on site, and said Expedia put that on their site in error. I called Expedia once i got into the room, and they said there was nothing they could do even though they put it on the site in error. I could cancel and lose my money or stay. The room was nothing compared to the pictures, as it extremely small and wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone, as it's so outdated and is in need of a large renovation. The wallpaper was coming off the wall, there was rust in the bathtub, and just barely met basic needs. The elevators are very old, and paint chipping from the stairwells. The parking is also costly even for a night, and a block away.

We stayed 4 nights room 421. “Shabby” my wife described it. We had no way to control temperature. After first night we asked for extra blankets, there was none in room. Another problem was that hot and cold water lines were reversed at bathroom sink. This is a code violation. Another guest said her room had same problem.. I wrote out note for manager but not changed during our stay. On last night our keycard would not work. They sent someone to pry door open and fix lock. Bathroom fan didn’t work. Else everything fine. Manhattan Diner on Broadway great place for breakfast. Subway entrance at south corner of 94th, about 200 ft.
