As a frequent traveller to the US, this hotel is a real gem in New York. The staff couldnt be more helpful and pleasant. The rooms are large and very well equipped and the aircon worked tremendously well.
The only downside is that there are three lifts only servicing 40 floors so, at peak times, there was often a wait....

If you are accustomed to staying in a Westin hotel or higher grade establishment you will not be happy here. This is an economy hotel hidden in a modern and hip setting. The location is between Penn Station and Times Square which works out great if you are traveling by train. This hotel is also a good choice for people...

In short: if it's the cheapest hotel in NYC, stay in Jersey.
"Highlights":
$690/night for a standard room (stayed for 3 nights)
Dank, dated room
Bug bites in bed (http://tinypic.com/r/2vudohl/6)
Awful bed (besides the bugs)

Stayed two nights on spg reward points. Room was great, had a kitchen, or a small one and the view was great. Breakfast in the morning was good, better than I expected. Staff was friendly and helpful. I'd stay here again and would recommend highly. Would be a great place for an extended stay
Had a great stay in NYC, and for the price, the element was hard to beat. great location, great price, really good rooms, and we got lucky with the elevators and in 3 days never had to wait like some have stated.
the free breakfast and coffee stations all day a bonus, and if you were really on a budget,...

Hotel staff really went out of their way with dining recommendations and the doormen would run down to 8th avenue to flag a taxi down in the rain. Breakfast spread...

Elements has several amenities that are rare in NY at the price. Large rooms with a handy and complete kitchenette, free wi-fi, and location near subway and interesting neighborhood restaurants (go west for them, not east to Times Square). The decor is modern and uncluttered. Outlets for your gadget chargers are handy, not underneath or behind furniture like so many...

My wife and I recently visited NYC for a mini-vacation and were extremely pleased with our experience at the Element Times Square. Prior to arriving, we didn't know what to expect other than some pretty decent ratings on TripAdvisor and the fact that it was a Starwood property (we've been loyal Starwood customers - primarily Westin, Sheraton, W, and Aloft...

My friend and I stayed at the Element courtesy of a Hotwire Hot rate deal. It was centrally located, 5-10 min walk to Times Square and Madison Square Garden. The hotel was modern looking and our room was nice and comfortable with a kitchenette and comfy bed. We also had a nice view from our window. The fitness center was...
