The Essex House is a luxurious property with great access to the subway, Central Park, and all of New York City. The rooms are smartly appointed and rather large by New York City standards. Though undergoing some additional renovations (e.g. Concierge Lounge), I would strongly recommend staying here.

Love this hotel have stay many times.ths staff are helpful,willing too help if you have a problem big or small.went for my birthday they sent a cake and flowers to my room. The staff was available and helpful when needed. The lobby is nice. The adjacent restaurant was being renovated but still open while we were there. The room was lacking in quality. Given the price and the photos on the website, I was expecting something of a Ritz Carlton quality and its just not that caliber. The location is great though.

If you are expecting Marriott excellence, stay at the Marquis or the Fairfield. If you are expecting to be treated fairly & with courtesy, go elsewhere. Right across from Central Park! Loved the location. It is now a JW Marriott property and they are still working on the lounge for elite members but they did give me a room upgrade.
