Stayed here as a family of four and loved it! We had the 2 bedroom suite composed of the Moonlight Serenade and Charleston rooms. Beds were comfortable and really appreciated having a separate room AC unit in each. The availability of breakfast and snacks throughout the day was key for us as well since we don’t all wake up at the same time or have the same tastes. The staff was wonderfully accommodating, even providing ice for us to make a cocktail to enjoy on the porch. We loved being in walking distance to everything! The Wi-Fi is not good so let go and enjoy the opportunity to unplug and enjoy being in the middle of everything Gettysburg has to offer. I would recommend the owners provide a traditional rubber stopper for the sink for those of us with contact lenses. And we didn’t get to try the ice cream this time, so we will definitely be back!

Positive The rooms are nice - the period charm is nice. Our king sized bed was large and comfortable. There was a nice patio which was nice (despite the "blankety blank" next door neighbor planing wood for two flipping hours - outside - 10 ft from the patio) ample seating in the room and living room on the first floor outside the door. They have a Roku in every room. I watched a movie on Amazon Prime and had zero issues - super fast. However, my guess is the Roku is hardwired into the internet in the building - see below. We had a huge suite which had a kitchen and our own bathroom. It was nice and if you are staying multiple days, you can use "your own" fridge, toaster, microwave and other stuff to make meals. Parking is in the rear of the building which you wouldn't know ahead of time, but there is ample street parking when you arrive. Our suite had a rear entrance - all other renters will need to pull their suitcases around to the front, but its like 50 ft total so.... The not so nice. This is not my idea of a B&B. I've stayed at lots of B&B's - this is not a B&B - its essentially a period hotel or boarding house. 1) In the same building is their ice cream shop. This is where you check in. So if there is a line for ice cream, tough, there is only ever one person around. You are then given a ring of many keys. Why? Because the owner doesn't live on site. If you have an issue, you either walk next door and wait for them to help or call and they will come to the house. I checked in and wasn't given the WiFi password. I had taken my shoes off and didn't want to go outside, around to the Ice Cream parlor, and ask while barefoot. When I checked in, I remembered an interior staircase, so I went upstairs, found the door, and came down. Apparently this was not what I should have done. The owner was NOT happy that I had used that stairs as its "not allowed" for some arbitrary reason - she mumbled something about safety - but the stairs seemed fine to me. Of course I was not told not to use this stairway when I checked in and it is not marked "do not enter" so the owner was apparently rude for no reason. 2) The WiFi is absolute crap. I looked in Trip Advisor and this has been noted in their reviews going back almost 10 years. You'd think they would fix it. I am an engineer who works on computers for a living so it isn't me. If its that Gettysburg's internet sucks, note this on your site or when people check in so they aren't pissed. Half the time I got service that was so slow I could barely do anything and the other half of the time the WiFi service was completely unavailable. I mean you are on a trip - you should be expected to be able to stream a movie or simply check you email or Facebook. I was only checking my email and it sucked. Considering they have a Roku in every room I have no idea what the issue is - there were only two other renters in the bldg so it wasn't that. Internet was actually better the next day when everyone was in the building so go figure. 3) The 2nd "B" in B&B is breakfast. The owners live offsite and make no attempt at breakfast. So they have the kitchen upstairs that's "stocked" with "breakfast items" and you can have whatever you want. Generosity? A+ Delivery C- What they provide is every kind of junkfood breakfast item imaginable - bags of cereal (I didn't see any milk), a dozen different kinds of Little Debby snacks, bagels/toast/english muffins, 10 different kinds of snack cracker/granola bar and a Keurig. The Keurig did have about 30 different flavors, and they had four different creamers in the mini fridge so that was nice, but if you actually want something substantial for breakfast besides coffee - tough crap. It wouldn't kill them to have some banana, apples, oranges, and the like so that we could eat decently, but that's not what the owners have in mind. 4) This might sound like a nit, but the A/C is not good. Its a period house - I get it. Having a window A/C unit is probably the best they can do. I get it. However, the window they selected is right behind the bed so you head is literally inches from the unit. So when the A/C or just the fan is on, it is blowing RIGHT ON YOUR HEAD. When we first got there the room was stuffy so I turned the fan on - it was not a great experience to lie on the bed with this on. When the unit is not on, you have an open window RIGHT BEHIND YOUR HEAD where you can hear every street noise or sounds the neighbor makes - like planing wood for 2 hrs. Luckily the night we were there was cool so I didn't have to have the unit on and "only" got to hear road noises all night. That being said, with only a very small amount of effort, this room could be flipped around with the bed where the love seat currently sits and the TV and end tables swapped. Then the wall unit is 15 ft from you - along with an open window and all the outside sounds - and it blows into the room and not directly on you. I figured this out 2 min and I do construction so it isn't a hard task - seems like the owners do not care. So that's essentially the issue here - everywhere you turn you get the impression that the owners don't really care about taking care of their visitors beyond providing a room. Everything is an "extra" and they aren't really interested in the extras that go with having a B&B and that certain something that B&B owners cater to their guests. You aren't a guest at Sentimental Journey B&B - you are a boarder. If that's good with you, then great. It was NOT what I had in mind.

We stayed in the King suite on the bottom floor. The place was comfortable and the antiques were wonderful. Great location to many locations(center of most). Great place to relax and feel like family. Barbara was very sweet and accommodating to life circumstances. Everyone was lovely. We will be staying again. I highly recommend this jewel to stay at. Thank you Barbara for all you did.

This is an adorable, cozy historical inn. The owners also own the ice cream shoppe next door and that is where you check in. They are super helpful. There is no elevator and the owner, Steve, helped my husband in with the luggage. Please be aware that this is NOT your typical bed and breakfast with a luxurious hot breakfast. What it does have is an adorable breakfast/snack area that has coffee, tea, cereal, bagels, and pastries available 24/7. We super appreciated that when we came back early on a rainy day and were able to have a coffee and pastry. The rooms are decorated in different time periods and are comfortable and clean. The location is perfect. I would recommend and stay here again.

We'd like to add our complete agreement with the many great things said about Sentimental Journey. Such as the thematic charm and warmth of each bedroom. And the friendly and knowledgeable innkeepers Barbara and Steve who had an uncanny knack of materializing whenever you had a question about how to approach seeing the massive Gettysburg battlefield or needed a dining recommendation. And not enough can be said about the well stocked, open 24/7 kitchen. (thank you!). It was a great and all too brief experience. We definitely intend to visit SJ again. One last note. The location is great. You're near everything - all within walking distance.

If you are going to Gettysburg, this is a great place to stay. Conveniently located on Baltimore Street within walking distance of restaurants, shopping and tours. Each room is set up with furnishings and art from different periods, we stayed in the 20's and 30's room. Breakfast is a Keurig drink maker and many prepared coffee cakes, cereals, etc. Do it yourself makes it quick and easy. If all this wasn't enough, free parking in the back.

We've stayed at various B&Bs in Gettysburg and this was our first time here. It's in a great location - you can walk everywhere. The innkeepers are very gracious and let you have your privacy. I liked that they had a stocked 24/7 kitchen for breakfast or snacks. It was nice to grab a bottle of water before going to bed. The furniture and decor is amazing - feels like you're back in the 1940s. My only complaints were the noise level - which is understandable given its location and the comfort of the bed. I'd recommend this place and would also stay here again.

I stayed at their Locust Ave location,in August 2019. To celebrate my birthday. On Friday evening, I had taken a walking ghost tour from 9-1230......I got back to the house settled in for the evening....decided to play games on my tablet until 130.....around 230am I was awoken by the sound of the closet door opening and closing. ( decided it was best to just ignore it). Around 3am, I was again woken up to the sounds of footsteps and hanging on my walls. ( thought it best to ignore that as well) around 430am I was once again woken up to the sounds of a conversation taking place. This Time I did not ignore it I was exhausted .....on Saturday evening I set up the camera in the hall way to capture anything while I was out.......and I was not disappointed .....the camera captured shadows on the wall. Sounds of footsteps can be heard. Electronic interference is also noticed. But the best part you can hear someone whispering into the mix. Can't Wait To Explore This Hidden Gem again see you in August 2020
