We loved it when we stayed to take in the December Candlelight Tour of old Fort Scott. Hotel is from the 1800's so do NOT expect spacious bathroom or shower, more than one chair in the room, room for lots of luggage, etc. Expect grand wide wooden stairway, quiet radiator heat, 10-foot ceilings in rooms, wonderful bed, lobby coffee, tea...

Looking for a place to stay in Ft. Scott with some charm, we had chosen the Courtland. This was a historic building and close to downtown. The experience was a disappointment. The room was very small, which we had expected with an older building, but not "that" small. We hardly had room for minimal luggage. or moving around without bumping...

This is a very charming little hotel! It was originally built in 1906, has 15 rooms, and was recently renovated to include individual bathrooms. Our family stayed in 8 rooms over 3 days for a local family event. Some rooms were small, but ours was quite large. They were all clean with comfortable beds. The bathrooms were tiny and have...

What can one say...EXCELLENT customer service, clean rooms, unique experience! The owners are right there helping you with anything you need. There was even a fresh new toothbrush and toothpaste on the sink for guest use. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone seeking a new style of overnight stay!
Warning..the rooms are small, but that's because they added private...

We stayed only night--we wanted to linger for a few more. The old hotel is wonderful and located right downtown. The owners are very helpful and friendly. The room was small but comfortable. It's within walking distance to restaurants and to historic Ft/ Scott. Try this one--you won't regret it!
We were planning to be on the end of a 350 + miles trip off Rte 66 that day, down Missouri through Springfield Mo, from Illinois. Booked ahead; we knew we would be arriving a bit later than normal but were still greeted with unbeatable charm and panache way after 7pm.
Perfect pair of connecting rooms for us and our...

The room was the king size room. It had a comfortable bed, mini fridge, flat screen TV, and a sitting area. The furnishing and decor fit with the age of the hotel. We loved it. We especially enjoyed the woodwork and tin ceilings in the public areas.
Our room was very clean. Aveda products were provided for in room amenities....

Do yourself a favor if you are traveling in Fort Scott or southeast KS and stay here. I stayed here for 5 days while on business working 12 hours a day in Bourbon County KS. It is a comfortable hotel to stay in, the lobby is very accomodating and the owner operators are gracious. This would be a great weekend...

I stayed over night at the Courtland. It is located in the center of the downtown area. The owners were extremely nice and welcoming. The spa is attached - 1st class operation. I stayed in a king room (#1) - it was very large, A/C worked great, the bathroom was very spacious, plenty of fresh towels - the sheets, bedding,...
