We looked at another hotel in the area but this was the perfect place. Very ably run by the owner Charles Aikenhead who is extremely knowledgeable and committed to make the stay as informative and comfortable as possible. The room we chose over looked the Drift and was light and airy. The hotel has been built to be as authentic... More

This is a lovely place to stay. Perfect location just above and 150 yards from the original Rorke's Drift. Quite rustic with big, airy rooms, very good ambiance provided by the hands on owner and totally in keeping with the surroundings. Good access to the battlefields of Isandlwana and Rorke's Drift. Only stayed 2 days but could easily have doubled... More

We stayed here for 3 nights and it wasn't long enough. Perfect location on the Buffalo River with outstanding views. The rooms were spacious, extremely comfortable and with all the amenities you need. The added benefit of fresh fruit and tea & coffee with fresh milk in the fridge was an excellent touch. The Rorke's Drift Hotel is perfect for... More

I stayed at the Rorke's Drift Hotel for two days while battlefield touring in KZN. The hotel is located in a superb location overlooking the Buffalo River. The owner, Charles, is a charming host who made the stay that little bit more special. Further, he arranged a Zulu guide, Dalton, who took us to, and explained the actions at Isandlawana... More

Rorke's Drift Hotel has a great location overlooking the Buffalo River and the crossing point which was of great strategic importance in the Zulu Wars. The rooms are spacious and well equipped with a refrigerator containing fresh milk for coffee or tea making. We only stayed one night and the evening meal was best described as 'homely' but more than... More

Having an enviable location right on the Buffalo River, looking over the original Rorke's Drift, the hotel is perfectly located - both for the trips to the battle sites, and for just drinking in the incredible scenery and stunning evening skies. The bedrooms are very large, with all amenities, but do feel just a little old-fashioned. Lovely pool area. The... More

We stayed 2 nights at Rorke's Drift Hotel at the end of February while travelling with friends. We picked the hotel using a lot of input from Trip Advisor and we were not disappointed. The hotel location is stunning and Charles and his staff go out of their way to make the stay very enjoyable. We stayed in the King... More

We spent a lovely four days at Rorke's Drift Hotel and managed to get in some walking, sightseeing, relaxing and swimming. The rooms were very comfortable, the food was excellent and the staff was friendly and welcoming. Our host, Charles was knowledgeable and created a warm, friendly atmosphere among all the guests. Spent an excellent few days at this hotel. Charles made us feel very welcome and with NIkki as our guide we learnt a great deal about the Zulu wars. I would thoroughly recommend the hotel and trips to anyone who wants to improve their knowledge of this period in British history
