A friend and I ventured to New Orleans in March to attend the SEC basketball tournament. Granted, another friend had booked the room for us at the Ursaline Guest House, so we were fairly oblivious about the lodging other than the pictures on the website. I was so excited about attending the tournament, I completely forgot about Trip Advisor. I... More

The first thing that came to mind: RUSTIC. In other words, this is a French-style pension. No pretense, nothing fancy. Painted wooden floors that are peeling and scuffed. 25-30-year-old bedcovers. Lumpy mattresses. Plumbing that works, somewhat. Water pressure? Discernable, but wait for it. But the great parts: Location, location, location. It's in the French Quarter, but OFF the main drag,... As an experienced traveller, it takes quite a bit for me to say "worst ever". Others have commented on the overall shabby conditions and poor service, so I will not repeat those comments. We were awakened early one morning by pounding on our door like you would expect if the hotel were on fire. On opening the door, Guy, an... More

One word - DUMP!!! I have pictures to prove it! The room was dirty, items from previous guest under bed with dust bunnies. Blue padded toilet seat, bars on windows, full size OLD bed instead of queen that was ordered (the head was up on two-by-fours), shower that ran hot and cold, One inch "crack" between bottom of door and... I booked through a travel website six months in advance, based on the hotel's location in the French Quarter and the fact that there was not much selection to be had for our dates, being Final Four weekend. We needed one night pre-cruise, and this hotel was the least expensive hotel whose reviews didn't include the word "bedbugs." At $136... More

Two friends and I stayed three nights at the Ursulines Guest House. The location is great. A block away from Bourbon Street, within a couple blocks of some coffee shops and restaurants. The room itself was fine. Definitely shabby but functional. The shower was so small that I literally couldn't move or turn around in it. But it did work... More

We stayed there for Mardi Gras 2012! It was a comfortable and lovely base of operations for all the fun we had. The owner and his employees were friendly and warm folks, and made us feel very welcome. The building is a gorgeously maintained antique, and just added to the magical feeling of staying in the Quarter. The wine and... More

This place is awful. Sewage backs up in the bathroom of #15, toilet clogs every time in #16. Especially, beware of the "Loft Room" (aka Room #16). It is tiny. The couch is disgusting (covered in what looks like old grease, stains, etc.), there are floor tiles missing, and the "bed" is a very old mattress (no box spring) through... More

My friend and I needed to escape and even though we knew we were heading to New Orleans, we were kind of blind about picking the place. Whether luck or fate, the Ursuline Guest House was by far the best decision we made the entire trip! From the moment we walked up, the charm and quaint atmosphere leaked out. We... More

I just got back from New Orleans and had the pleasure of staying at the Ursuline Guest House. Now, anyone thinking this is a four star hotel experience need just move on to something more toward your tastes. This place is filled to the brim with history and character. Is it perfectly clean? No. Are all of the floors level... More
