Staff here are friendly, but unfortunately (as a previous reviewer mentioned,) their efforts are not enough to make up for the conditions of the hotel itself. Obviously, it was once a nice hotel that people really cared about and initially invested both money and time in. The room was somewhat small, but in a quaint way, with a decent king... More

The desk staff is very nice and helpful; however, the issues with this hotel are beyond their control. Check in fine. I reserved a King room. It was on the second floor. The elevator has to go to the 4th floor first, before it can stop at any floor. Then I had a smaller-than-double bed for the price of a... More

Never seemed like anyone in charge was present. The rooms were small. In the bathroom shower we had to hold the knob to make the water come out the shower head. No water pressure, no hot water, and it felt like we were showering under a dripping water hose. Air turns off when you leave the room as well. You... More

We stayed here for jazz fest. Think of this as bare bones hotel and you will not be disappointed. Thermostat a bit of mystery, shuts self off to save energy good luck getting room below 73 if you aren't there much. Tired decorations, dingy.. Had to ask for soap. On the plus side, housekeeping gave us towels every day, it's... More

I would not recommend this hotel to my worse enemy. The rooms were filthy. We stayed one night and moved out. We changed rooms three times during the one-day stay. Our first room was decorated with burlap. The pillows didn’t have pillowcases on them. The mattress didn’t have a mattress pad and the sheets were as thin as could be.... More

I was staying in NOLA for a conference for work and the conference hotel was over my daily per diem. With limited choices I decided on the St. James. Big mistake! The only good thing about this hotel is the location, right between the French Quarter and Central Business/Warehouse Districts. The staff couldn't help suggest a place for me to... More

Arrived at the hotel, after a rather long train journey. Started to unpack, to find that there wasn't any coat hangers in the wardrobe. Phoned housekeeping, to be told none available until tomorrow, imagine my reaction??? I asked could someone not go to a shop to buy some if that was the case. I sat myself down in reception until... We went with 4, only because of what some other reviewers have mentioned. The elevators are little slow and noisy (but clean) and the carpets, particularly in the halls, could probably stand an grade. But our room was great (king on the 3rd floor, 2nd bldg.overlooking courtyard) and the staff is terrific! Everyone was ultra friendly and helpful. We like... More

If you are thinking about spending time and your hard earned money on a nice hotel in New Orleans, DO NOT stay at this hotel. This place is a dump! I have stayed in many hotels throughout the country and this one is by far the worst ever! At a price of $200.00 per night one would expect working elevators,... More
