My husband and I were married in February, and looked for a special place to stay in Seattle. We wanted character, ambiance, and quiet, and found it at the Shafer-Baillie Mansion in the historic Volunteer Park area. It's a large, beautifully appointed home with gracious owners. We were so impressed that we decided to have our wedding reception there the... More

I stayed here with my family. It is a really great place for kids and adults. Endless pastries and a down right beautiful house. The rooms are just beautiful! I would recommend this to anyone. A perfect place to go if you love history too. The staff is extremely friendly. Our TV broke at around 10 and the lady had... More

I've stayed at a number of B&Bs. If they were all like Shafer Bailie, I would only stay at B&Bs whenever I travel.our room was spectacularly appointed, with a ton of room for our toddler to explore after a long day of sightseeing. Breakfast in the AM was quite hearty, including some homemade cobbler. The location is quaint. The staff... More

I stayed here as part of a business group that took up the whole house. We were treated very well, and the house was quite comfortable for our group, both in terms of the rooms, and the common space where we held meetings. Internet service was a little spotty, requiring occasional router reboots. Location is very good. Several restaurants just... More

Never having stayed in a B&B I was a little hesitant to make the leap but completely changed my mind when I stepped into this beautiful mansion from the early 20th century. My friends drove me to location and when we turned a corner in the stately neighborhood, they exclaimed "Wow, I hope you are staying here" then dropped their... More

This mansion is exquisite and beautifully appointed. They no longer build this type of home and the antique furnishings compliment this B&B. The location is close to stores, restaurants on Broadway and a quick bus trip to downtown. The neighborhood is quiet on a tree lined residential street of up scale homes from by-gone days. Breakfast is plentiful and staff... More

Driving up to the b&b, you would think you'd stepped back in time to when things were simpler & life was grand or, it's the latest set for a movie! Capitol Hill reminds us a lot of Vancouver Shaughnessy & the mansions you can find there. The house has many period pieces, down to the light switches but don't be... More

Thanks for a wonderful review and very apt comments. Our innkeepers, Brenda and Glenn, are most definitely warm and friendly. Each of our 8 rooms and suites is quite different and has its own unique charms; your comments about the Queen Anne Hill Room are certainly spot-on. We hope to see you again in the future! A friend had recommended this place to us and we are ever so grateful to her for that tip. We enjoyed our third floor room with every amenity supplied and slept in a most comfortable bed. The breakfast was delicious and Brenda was helpful and welcoming, even giving us two tickets to the Seattle Art Museum for the Gauguin and... More

When our "usual" B&B was fully booked, we ended up staying here...and this is now our new favorite B&B (we visit Seattle frequently to see family). The location is great, the rooms are very comfortable and the hosts could not be more friendly and helpful! You don't need a car; public transportation is only a block away......and the breakfast buffet....outstanding!... More
