If you are looking for spacious, extremely clean, well maintained apartment accommodation in the heart of downtown Anchorage then Duke's 8th Avenue Hotel is where you need to stay. I recently spent a month at Duke's 8th Avenue Hotel and felt that I was at home. Mike, the manager, is a wonderful person who took care of my stay from... More

My husband and I ventured in to Anchorage for our honeymoon in September with no real plans or accommodations in place. We heard from my Father that Dukes was the place to go, so we went to check it out. Mike, the manager, was a wonderful person. He went well out of his way to make sure we were taken... More

This hotel has quite a little scam going on with their "policies". I recently rented a room for 1 month. My daughter and her family recently moved to Anchorage and were staying in the hotel for the first couple of weeks until they found permanent housing. My husband and I were planning to stay during the final week of this... More

If you need to stay in Anchorage for an extended period of time AND know exactly when you will be arriving and departing AND you don't mind an out-of-date 1 1/2 star hotel, then this place might work for you. This was my situation EXCEPT my departure date needed to be moved up due to a change in business plans,... More

We waited a little too long to book a hotel for the weekend of the Big Wild Life Marathon and came across Duke's while trying to find something that could accommodate 3 people. What a pleasant surprise! Duke's is an older hotel that more resembles an apartment building. It doesn't look like much from the outside, but give it a... More

We were given an upgrade to a more superior 2 bedrooms suite at no extra charge. The room has a well equipped kitchenette, a nice spacious dining area and a comfortable lounge area with a large screen TV with cable. The property is well maintained and clean. What we liked most is its location - easy for us to walk... More

Stayed there a month, and everytime I walked into the room, I was reminded of what a classy hotel it is....always clean and perfectly appointed with artistic extras (housekeeping rocks!!), lighted awning at the front door (I can picture Audrey Hepburn on a movie set there). Amazingly reasonable rates amidst outlandish hotel prices in Anchorage (big hotels cater to the... More

Duke's is a comfortable small downtown hotel. The location is great for me that I can walk right across the street to the Conoco Phillips building for business. There are no kids running in the halls or doors being slammed. It nice that you can get your computer work done and not be bothered. As always the hotel is clean... More

My family and I have stayed in a wide variety of Anchorage's downtown hotels over the years. Duke's has topped the list for being clean, quite, and spacious. The location was perfect. I was able to walk to my conference as well as coffee, restaurants, culture, and shopping. I look forward to my next stay at Duke's.

I booked hotel several months ago. but, before going 2 week, they said just sorry that your booking is my computer error without any compensation. I never recommend this hotel, and be careful 'anytime cancellation' until arriving hotel

Possible Owner’s Response: Thank you for taking the time to write your comments. We want to apologize again for the unforeseeable inconvenience caused by our reservations system. Although having a reservation cancelled by our automated system a few weeks prior to your stay can be frustrating, it is a rare occurrence, but it can happen during the busiest season of... More
