Haven't really felt it necessary to add to the reviews of Hotel Ranga until we read the previous review. We have now stayed there, I think, five times and the service has always been exemplary. We were there during the 2010 eruption when the place was swarming with foreign journalists and still got perfect attention from the staff, and we... More

For a hotel that bases so much on its reputation for quality, the service was abysmal from the start. Comparing it to any hotel on the international stage, it could not possibly be rated at a four star level unless the staff had been far better trained. Can't complain about the quality of the rooms or the food (except the... More

We stayed here for 3 nights as part of the 'northern lights self-drive' package. Our room was cosy, and we had a hot tub right outside the back door. We ate in the hotel restaurant every night and, although the food was not cheap, we felt it was good value for money. The food was absolutely delicious, we made sure... More

Stayed at the hotel Ranga for two nights. Wasn't impressed! Don't understand the other ratings at all. We had a standard room, more like basic. The bathroom, well. A corner bath. With a shower on the wall but no shower curtain, so we had to sit in the bath to have a shower or you soaked the bathroom. The sink... More

Lovely strange place out of a western movie, wooden architectur fitting the outbacks of Canada. Polar bear greeting comes as a surprise. Friendly reception ladies but rooms are more on the average side and come quite expensive for their view and very small space. Bathrooms however are big and comfy. The best thing about this place is the restaurant, their... More

The work annual party this time was held at the hotel Ranga. I have to admit it's a rather expensive hotel but it's worth spending one night there just for the sake of experience. The hotel is located in the south of Iceland, which is on the way to some major attractions, such as Skógafoss waterfall and Glacier lagoon. The... More

Wow. What can I say? Fantastic country, wonderful scenery and the most hospitable of staff. Absolutely loved it. We had an upgrade for my husband's birthday where we found a spa bath in the bedroom. The bed was absolutely divine. Really didn't want to get out of bed! The whole place was spotless. The pool room, little seating areas around... More

Hotel Ranga is a very cosy hotel, with lovely facilities and an excellent restaurant. We had the standard room and it was great - quite enough room and a lovely big bathroom with a jacuzzi bath. The restaurant is expensive, but not prohibitively. Wine is expensive wherever you go, so if you're a T-total then your meal will be significantly... More

the complimentary reviews are spot on and accurate. we stayed 2 nights just after easter. the views, atmosphere, service, hot tubs, quality of food are all excellent. we were awoken and saw the northern lights one of the 2 nights, but it was very brief and almost certainly a mini showing and not quite the full spectacle. best to plan... We have just returned from a self-drive tour of Southern Iceland, Hotel Ranga was the last stop along the way and was the perfect end. The hotel is beautiful, and very authentic with is wooden decor. Our room was spacious and had a little balcony that would have been perfect for viewing the northern lights, but unfortunately they didn't make... More
