My stay at the Winnedumah was warm, comfortable, and welcoming. Indeed, as others have stated, the hotel is older - vintage old 1900s style. As such, it has a few nicks and scratches but the charm, character, and grandmother's house kind of feel made me feel right at home. I am fond of this sort of hotel experience. It has... More

Staying at the Winnedumah was the best hotel experience of the whole trip in US. You will no longer find any hotel like this one in any place. The vintage style, the rooms are all unique, the lobby with the grand piano available for my daughter to play, the warm welcome by the owner who also prepared us a wonderful... More

Our group was a foursome. The fellas climbed Mt. Whitney, the girls stayed behind - praying!! The hotel is a wonderful example of what it must have been like to live in the area in the early 1900's. We enjoyed the company of the owner, Frank, who was very accommodating and friendly. My girlfriend and I shared a room with... More

After reading reviews going back to 2007 here I see some things don't change. Charming? Vintage? Character? Wild stretches of the imagination. I've been in those kinds of B&B's. This ain't that. Not by a long shot. First off, the A/C was non-existent. Had to use a room fan...not a welcome feeling after a 120 degree day in Death Valley.... More

I was dismayed to read some very cruel and mean-spirited reviews here and therefore inspired to put in my 2 cents! Come on people, you should hope to look as good as the Winnedumah when you’re 84! And, do you know how hard it is to run a B & B with a smile on all the time? Why are... More

About time I found a place that you can escape to and relax. It feels like I went back in time when things were not do stressfull and so fast. You can go fishing hiking picture taking or just sit near the fire place and read a book. I plan on coming back many times. I made so many friends... More

My friend and I arrived at the hotel after our rental car had broken on the highway 10 miles after Lone Pine. From the start, the owner Frank was very understanding and tried to help us as much as he could (as we were French, he even called the rental car road assistancce / customer service for us !) He... This is my 2nd time here and I have to say that I love the atmosphere of this place! I understand why people say this place is a bit shabby, but that only leads to it's charm. You have a comfortable place to relax in the huge lobby in front of the fire on a cold night. Books surround you... More

Opinions about the Winnedumah seem to be somewhat divided. The last reviewer even called it creepy! I'm not surprised. Me and my wife arrived there one evening looking for any place to stay at a reasonable price and to be fair, I can see why some people might think that they've just stumbled into the Adams Family's house. It is... More

There is "historic" and then there is "creepy" and this hotel verges on the "creepy". After reading the reviews here and looking at the photos, the hotel seemed to have the all the qualities I was looking for in a charming little bed and breakfast hotel. I contacted the hotel directly. Marcus was very helpful and friendly when I made... More
