My wife and I was looking for the ideal location to snowshoe around Mt. Rainier and downhill skiing at White Pass. Since during the winter, some roads are closed inside the National Park, the best access to both is via Highway 12 and 7. So we decided to book a cabin near the park for couple nights. Gateway Inn had... More

We just spent a weekend at the Gateway Inn in Ashford, WA. We arrived to a light dusting of snow, and in preparation for our arrival, the heat had been turned up and there was a load of firewood for the large stone fireplace, a load of kindling, and a couple of large newsprint magazines to help with the building... We booked online - the pictures looked good but they must have hired a great photographer. The first room was hard to describe. The old carpet was covered partially with a 'newer' rug held in place with duct tape. The bed sheets were threadbare and appeared to have been slept in and just made up. We asked for another room.... I never met such bad attitude boss, I think he is the boss, very rude and impolite to us when we want to know the reason why we need to pay extra person which was confirmed over the phone was free for a family of 4, even though they are over 15-18, and simply asked us to leave as we... More

This looked like a convenient place to stay = beware! The cabins are filthy! The carpet was so dirty that I kept my socks on. The thin, worn sheets gave me the creeps. All beds were doubles with dismal old bedspreads from the last century. There was a nice old fireplace, but they used an oven rack for a firescreen.... More

Four of us stayed here before our climb up Rainier. My cousin and I got a room in the hotel section, it was clean, spartan, with a tiny TV. Our friends got one of the cabins for the same price---a mistake. Their cabin smelled of Pine Sol, had some spiders and of most concern, one of the beds had a... More

Stayed for one night August 22, 2012. for the money go somewhere else, they other lodges and inns are close enough or cheaper and include some breakfest. The cabin was dark and unclean. Beds were not great and noisy. Shower was small and in nead of repairs. With some upkeep and lighting this could be a great place. Needs a... More

Decided to hit Mt. Rainier few days above and beyond our week inside the park. Gave this place a try since it was at the Nisqually entrance. We stayed in a 3 bedroom apartment type space. Everything looks like it came from 1979 and at times it feels like you are inside a carnival fun castle. The floor tilts at... More

We recently stayed in a cabin at the Gateway Inn. The cabin was dark and rustic and didn't seem to be the cleanest place. The bed was uncomfortably hard and loud. It made awful noises with every move. The bathroom was clean and the towels were very nice compared to the rest of the place. Don't count on using the... More
