We paid $235 for a room for our wedding night, which we expected to be lovely and romantic. We were very wrong! This place is terrible and not at all worth the price! The bed was terribly uncomfortable, hard as a rock, and the pillows were flat and very uncomfortable. We wanted a romantic evenng, but the noise from guests... More

We stayed two nights, and loved being there!! From Hal, our bell captain, who helped us plan our itinerary, to Rosevelt, who makes a lovely mint julep, to all of the servers who greeted us with smiles, we felt welcomed in old southern charm, and the grounds are beautiful!!!! Love, love loved this "hotel", would highly recommend it!

I arrived on a business trip Tuesday May 22nd after almost 8 eight hours of travel. The 26 acres property instantly transported me in time while simultaneously decreased my blood pressure. It features a formal garden, coy pond, and Restaurant 1818 with exquisite southern french inspired fare. The mint Juleps served in the lounge were delicious! Now under new ownership... More

We arrived the on the 11th of May. I have stayed here for many years, but when I arrived this time it was not the same. No one offered or take our luggage to our room. The staff which is normally most helpful was not very engaged with the guest. Breakfast was ok but we dined at the main house... More

My husband and I chose Monmouth for our three year anniversary. We were pleased from the moment we drove up to the home! The huge magnolia trees that are scattered throughout the well manicured lawn add a southern charm that is beyond words! The staff is wonderful, the rooms are beautifully appointed, and they have a very helpful turn down... More

My nephew got married in this wonderful antibellum mansion. Nachez is a visual treat, with something like 15 restored "plantations". These are really min-plantations, as they are in a town. They married in the garden. It was lovely.

Great property, check in, staff...for the value, just not up to it... Property needs a little tender loving care in some spots. "Coffee" on the back veranda was empty, no cream, etc... Just seemed that the staff was "thinned out" and not enough around to attend to the level that has always been advertised. However, I'm giving the property a... More

We were enjoying a lovely stroll in Natchez, with a map in hand in order to see the antebellum houses and mansions in Natchez, although we were not lost, a nice chap stopped us and asked if we were lost, we mentioned that we were not. He then proceeded to list several sites that are musts and how to finish... More

We toured Mississippi and Louisiana in May 2011..I have seen photos of Monmouth, and have always wanted to stay at this beautiful plantation home..There was no rooms available in the main house, but there was a SUITE in the garden cottage..We had the ALANA SUITE..which was very nice and spacious..The only thing was the very small shower..You almost had to... As of March 1, 2012, Monmouth is under new ownership and management; therefore it is difficult for us to research your dining experience of 11 months ago. We were very unhappy with the room we were allocated. We booked a Deluxe Room. Their website says that the Deluxe rooms are ‘located throughout the grounds and gardens: the Courtyard Building which is adjacent to the Main House, the Garden Cottages, Pond Cottage and Quitman’s Retreat’. Their photogallery of buildings shows (apart from the main house) only pretty cottages... More
