Okay stay. Lady in charge seems over her job which can easily happen in tourism. She seemed very tired and overworked. TV Lounge smells very damp and mouse ran in and out of the sliding door a few times. Room good, beds good. Bathroom okay. All in all just tired. Needs new life and enthusiasm but an okay stay.

We've been traveling around for 2 1/2 weeks and stayed in various backpackers, but this hostel was definitly one of the worst we've visited. The rooms were okay but not great with the kitchen being very crowded and living area being a bit dodgy but still alright. The lady at the front desk though was unbelievalby impolite, charging us suddenly... More

My partner and I stayed @ Ivory Towers in Feb this year and it is average. We stayed for 3 nights and the first night was in a twin room with shared bathroom as this was all they had left and the other 2 nights were in a double with en-suite. The twin room was fine. We had a little... More

I request for a female only dorm, but was given a mix dorm room. But thanks to the staff, they helped to check in the guys into another room as they didn't realise that I request for a female only dorm room. The kitchen is clean. They have lots of toilet and bathroom as well, and clean too. Their bunk... More

We stayed here for two nights to do a hike on Fox Glacier. We were put in a house which is used for a small number of guests rather than the main hostel so is not applicable to the main hostel. The bedroom was spacious, comfy and clean (we had a queen); the kitchen was well equipped but missing matches,... More

I think my expectations were exceptionally high when we arrived here as hostels in NZ are generally exceptional. I have given this an average because it kind of is in the scheme of things, however I wouldn't be put of staying again. The staff are friendly and very knowledgable of the area, the common areas are friendly and full of... More

Not the best place to stay, if you have extra cash, consider other accommodations. The toilets on the ground floor are damp and no ventilation is available, which make it rather suffocating experience. Hot water ran out in all three bathrooms and I had to make my way to the second floor in search for hot water. Corridor is dimly... More

Dirty toilet, horrible bedrooms with bad smell, unfriendly staff, lousy wireless network connection, dirty kitchen.! I guess they never bother to change the bedsheet and pillow case for really long time. I found some rubbish on the floor once i stepped into the room. Besides the location is near to the Fox Guide center ( fox glacier is just a... More

The worst place we stayed in NZ. Beside the good location which is near to the Fox Guide Center, i can't really think of any good experience at the lodge. Terrible toilet, dirty and horrible bedrooms, bad network connection though we paid NZD 10 for 100mb wireless, disgusting fridge and dining area. I guess they never bother to change the... More
