My best friend Marc and I came up to Salem for the first time this year .We came for the Haunted Happenings Halloween celebration. We stayed at the Amelia Payson B&B from Thursday 10/28 to Monday 11/01. Fist, the house is absolutely gorgeous! Ada and Donald are the most welcoming hosts. Thanks Jim & Marc for your kind words after your visit in October. Don and I are so glad you had a great stay. Certainly, Salem during Halloween is a hectic time and we only hope that everyone truly sees the real charm of our wonderful city as you did. We are happy to hear it was a comfortable and... More

Everything going for it and I mean everything. Greatest hosts you'll ever meet. Superb breakfast and I don't eat very much. Donald has ties to Nova Scotia so that stands him in preety good company, Ada doesn't need any of that because she's the real deal! Just a great place. Hope that Donald replies to my orb pic! Many thanks to you all for such an enthusiastic review of your experience at out B&B. It is always nice to know, even after 26 years, that people have truly enjoyed their visit to Salem and that we had a part in making it more enjoyable, and especially for our sister countryman & women to the North. Ada and Donald Roberts were delightful hosts. The room was charming with small touches of hospitality, and extremely clean. The conversations with them and the other guests at the breakfast table made our trip to Salem more enjoyable. If you go to Salem, this is the place to stay. Joe and Geraldine Birch

I was up in Salem visiting friends in the area and decided at the last minute to stay overnight. The minute I stepped foot into this bed & breakfast, I felt that I had picked a good one. I was brought up to my room and was very satisfied to how the room was decorated. As for the cleanliness of... More

I would highly recommend the Amelia Payson House to anyone visiting Salem. Ada and Donald were amazing hosts, and our room was excellent. The house was beautiful and every inch was spotless. Our room was very comfortable, especially with the all important air conditioner during the really humid weather, and it was large enough to move around. We were amazed... More

My husband and I stayed at the Amelia Payson House for three nights in May 2010. We wanted to visit Boston but not stay in Boston. This place was perfect. A few minutes walk to the station with regular trains into Boston and takes about 30 minutes from Salem on the train. Salem itself is a lovely place to stay.... More

A comfortable and quiet room with all the amenities plus a wonderful breakfast each morning. Don and Ada were friendly and helpful; they helped make our first trip to Salem a very enjoyable one. We were recommending their bed and breakfast to family members before we even left Salem!

Staying in this beautiful 19th century home, just 30 minutes north of Boston, was pure delight! Situated on a tree-lined street just one block from Salem Common, the location makes it possible to park the car (off street) for the duration of your stay and walk to the harbor, museums, restaurants, etc. My second floor room was large, inviting, and... We just returned home from an extended weekend at the Amelia Payson House in beautiful Salem, MA and I highly recommend staying there. The rooms are beautifully decorated and spacious (with perhaps the largest bathroom I have ever seen in a B&B). Everything was sparkling clean and the breakfasts were absolutely delicious. Most of all, our hosts Ada and Donald... More
