If you're coming to check out Salem, chances are you dig that historical New England charm. To complete the experience, stay at the Stephen Daniels house- straight out of the 1600's and in your face! We loved it! So much to look at-antiques everywhere. The bathroom fixtures were totally updated (thank goodness), but besides that, it was very much like... More

My husband and I stopped in here, looking for a charming B&B for the night. We took a short tour of the house, and could not get out quickly enough. The innkeeper was rude, and while walking through the house, we could feel very negative and scary energy...like someone was watching us/following us. All of the décor and furnishings are... More

The Stephen Daniels house is a step back into colonial time. The house was built in the late 1600s with the other part built in the 1700s, we stayed in the great room, which includes a fireplace and is a massive room. Kay and Robin are great hosts, we had great conversation in the morning. Breakfast is very basic, muffins... More

It was my second time visiting this bed and breakfast. Don't get me wrong, I loved historical things, the house, room, etc. was amazing breathtaking. Breakfast was okay, I expected something different or new but its good though. What ripped me off is the owner charged me for using the fireplace. I thought it was included in the room. Oh... More

Staying here was our favorite part of Salem. We stayed in the "Great Room", the one with the green walls and fireplace. It was beautiful and we really felt like we were living in the 1600s for a night. The room was very cozy and lighting a fire added a nice touch. The antiques all around the house were wonderful... We were a party of 3, and just got back from Stephen Daniel's House a week ago, and we cannot wait to go back! Wish we would have booked a longer stay. The home is well kept, yet has this age old antique charm about it, old doors that creek and original and strange knobs, locks and hinges just add... More

Staying at the Daniels House was probably one of the best trips I have ever had! The ambience was awesome and you really felt like you were stepping right into history. Kay and Robin were an absolute delight. Location was perfect and you could walk right to all the fun spots and attractions. When I go back to Salem, I... More

I first stayed at the Daniels house with my husband 17 years ago. I was working on my Masters Degree (about the Salem Witch Trials) and thought it would be good to get a feel for the time period. The week before my husband and I arrived, my mother passed away suddenly. We almost cancelled our plans; so glad we... More

Don't believe all the negative reviews - this place was great. It was central, close to all the local sights and had off-street parking (very big plus for this area!). We had the master bedroom on the first floor, which was large and spacious with a sitting area and it's own private bathroom. The room also had an adjoining smaller... More

The hostess was charming, She gave us a tour and we really enjoyed talking to her.The house is very interesting and is withing walking distance to everything. Bedding was terribly old and uncomfortable. No Queen or Kings beds here. The room itself was comfortable and the architecture was amazing. It was clean overall except the bathroom had a musty odor,... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
The home was converted to a restaurant and inn in 1945 by the Hallers. Current owner Catherine Gill, affectionately known as Kay, purchased the inn in 1962 and has proudly served as innkeeper and caretaker during 49 years . Making us Salem's oldest running Bed&Breakfast! Upon entering the home one is immediately enthralled by the sheer number of antiques and collectibles that cover most every conceivable nook and cranny. Antique pottery next to historic English puppets, laced with cross-stitch art works, majestic portraits, antique toys and so much more. A life time of Kay's world travels and collecting. It is an eclectic feast for the senses. The home itself is a living museum where guests can take a step back in time as they touch and see, feel and explore and get a true sense of the history and romance that abounds throughout the entire home. Our goal is focused on providing you with an enjoyable and memorable experience and not merely a comfortable place to relax and rest your head. We may not be Salem's most modern inn but we are the most unique! Our suites are furnished with period four poster canopy beds and decorated with genuine antiques. There are no velvet ropes here! If history and ambiance is what you seek than the Daniels House is the place to stay. Come and meet your hosts Kay Gill and Robin McDonald. Enjoy our complimentary continental breakfast of fresh baked muffins, juice, cereals, coffee, teas and pleasant conversation. Child and pet friendly. Thank you for visiting and hope to meet you at the Inn.Owner and operator for over 49 years Kay. ... more   less
