Woodruff House is a beautiful French Victorian Inn located in the heart of the Shenandoah Valley. We offer a quiet getaway with romantic Jacuzzi rooms, warm hospitality, bountiful homemade breakfasts, and several special packages to make your visit memorable.
Highly recommended. Real close to Luray Caverns. Very friendly hostess, extremely accommodating. Would be a good place to stay at the start of a journey down skyline Drive in Shenandoah national Park.

We had the upstairs suite. A very large, clean and comfortable room. The hot tub was a real perk especially after a long drive. The house dates back to 1882 and has been beautifully renovated. It's a short walk into town. Donna is a wonderful, helpful host and does a great breakfast. All facilities are yours to use. The Woodruff House feels like home.

Arriving In The quaint mountain town of Luray, we were greeted by our extremely friendly host!! The BB was fantastic ! Classical, beautifully maintained with lots of southern charm. The room was cozy and extremely comfortable in so many ways!! Sorry we only had one night in this wonderful place !!! Clean and beautifully decorated. Short walk to the center of town and the walking trail. Parking was worry free We left early and missed the home cooked meal but our host packed a more than generous breakfast bag for the two of us for our hike!! Awesome !!! Cheers

We found ourselves in Luray for a wedding, so we decided to take the opportunity to take a little vacation away from the city. Thank goodness we chose the Woodruff House! Donna is such a sweetheart and she immediately made us feel at home. She always had snacks and drinks available so that we could help ourselves whenever we felt peckish. And the breakfasts... you won't need to eat again until dinner! Our room was so charming and cozy. Loved the in-room jacuzzi! The inn location is a very quick walk from the casual restaurants and antique stores of downtown Luray. And only a 5 minute drive from the Luray Caverns! Thank you, Donna, for giving us a little oasis just 2.5 hours from DC! We hope to come back soon!

This is now my 5th time staying at the Woodruff House B&B, I have gotten to know the owners John & Donna so much that now we are all like family. I stayed in the Rooftop Suite which was wonderful and so peaceful "above it all". I knew when I was searching for a getaway only 1 place came to mind, a relaxing place to recharge and do nothing if you want to. It was nice to go to the many antique shops and stores in the area, just to take my time. Went to a new restaurant and had an amazing meal. I can't tell you the magnitude of the amount of food for Breakfast that Donna makes each morning-but you do not need to eat until dinner. Do yourself a favor and book a few nights here, you and your body/mind will thank you!!!

First impression of the exterior is that this property needs some much needed updates to the exterior paint and foundation. The innkeeper was very nice and let us check in early which was much appreciated (11AM verses 3PM). Unfortunately the condition of the bathroom (soap scum in shower) in the room and dust bunnies (in the room unit air condition and behind a chair) led us to question the cleanliness of the room to the point that my GF no longer wanted to stay. We went back home and did not ask for refund (link to refund guidelines were not available on website) so I have no other feedback. Inn keeper noticed we took our stuff and called us to ask if everything was ok. When we told her she asked if we wanted another room, but at that point we were already on the way home. First impression are important! …

Response from donnaluray, Owner at Woodruff House Bed & Breakfast
Responded 24 Jul 2019
We hate that you wasn't happy with our Bed and Breakfast. I spoke with your girlfriend before you two left. I asked her if everything was ok and she said yes. I ask if you two needed anything and she said no. I even spoke with her concerning breakfast and she said that she would see us in the morning for breakfast and that there were no food allergies. I wish that you would have brought any issues to my attention before leaving. We could have moved you to a different room. Our home was built in 1882 and we are in the process of upgrading. We have upgraded 3 of the 4 bedrooms and we would have been more that happy to have moved you to one of the other rooms. We want our guest to be happy and feel like they are at home. We do appreciate your feedback Thank you

As soon as we walked in, we felt like we were at home. The owners greeted us with a smile, showed us around the house and then showed us our room. Dorothy's Loft was the one we had which is on the back side of the house with a very comfortable king bed and private bathroom. We a very quiet room with lots of space. Nice sitting area out back with hot tub and a fire pit. The owners started a fire in the fire pit later that evening and we were able to sit by the fire with drink and enjoy the beautiful Stars. Breakfast was beyond amazing. So good. She asked how we wanted our eggs and I said sunny side up and they came out perfect.. From the house, owners, hot tub, fire pit and the fantastic breakfast it was all just amazing. Great stay.

It was a lovely experience from start to finish at Woodruff. It started with straightforward and timely communication with Donna about our stay. We were uncertain about our check-in time so she sent simple instructions for self check-in. We stayed in Dorothy's loft which is a spacious room above the kitchen and dining room. It has a comfortable king sized bed and two relaxing side chairs. It has an en suite bathroom so the old review about this room is out-of-date. One has to be careful on the sides of the room because the ceiling slants down to a 4-foot wall on either side. The room has a window unit air conditioner with a thermostat that kept the temperature consistent but expect some white noise from the unit. Donna prepared a very filling and delicious breakfast that kept us sated for hours. She is a fantastic hostess that is prepared to help you with any needs. The cookies under glass were a nice touch when we came back from a long hiking trip and just needed a little pick-me-up.…
