Medora, North Dakota is a funny old-timey town just outside the Theodore Roosevelt National Park which is well worth a visit if only to see the herds of buffalo and the many prairie dog villages, not to mention the very beautiful North Dakota Badlands. The Rough Rider Hotel which dates back to the 1880s, has recently undergone a rehab. The... More

This hotel, built in the 1880s, was renovated in 2009. We stayed in one of the original rooms, which was quite small and rather gloomy. It had a kingsized bed, an armoire, desk, desk chair and a bathroom with a huge shower. A flat screen TV was over the desk. The hotel is within walking distance of the visitor's center... More

This hotel is the cutest place, it has a great 1900's feel to it. The entire hotel is based on Theodore Roosevelt's life, history, and times out here. The room was spacious and clean, bathroom is very modern, bed - no problem sleeping in this bed. The rooms have the cutest Teddy bear mascot, which can be purchased at the... More

Compared to other hotels in Medora, this hotel felt luxurious and extravagant. The rooms were spacious, very clean, and smartly decorated to fit the theme and feel of the town. The bathroom was modern with a really cool shower. The staff was friendly and helpful and the hotel is centrally located within walking distance to everything in town. This hotel's... More

We went to watch EOU play ND State. and the entire EOU team stayed there 56 players plus parents etc.. The hotel is done up like it was when it was built..early 1900 and every room has a write up of Theodore Roosevelt and his history, both around the area and his entire life. It is located it the Theodore... More

We called in advance for a room at the Badlands Motel upon arrival found the Badlands Motel that I was quoted a rate for is closed for the season and was then redirected to Roughrider Hotel, I thought would be at the same rate! WRONG!!!!! Ended up spending an additional $120 for a 2 night stay. You would think I... More

This was a great hotel - our room was spacious, the bathroom was wonderful and everything was clean. I thought, from seeing pictures others had posted, that this hotel would be cheesy and decorated all western. It wasn't at all and the teddy bear on the bed was very cute. The bathroom had a cool shower with no curtain but... More

I really enjoyed my stay at the Rough Riders Hotel...it was an enjoyable place to stay! I had a room with a nice king size bed and there was ample room everywhere in my hotel room. Loved the teddy roosevelt teddy bear on the bed; it was a cute touch. The bathroom was to die for. Had a huge walk... More

We stayed 2 nights in one of the new (tower) rooms. Very nice room overlooking someone's back yard. That was great for us because it was very quiet. Very nice lobby with coffee and a pleasant porch with rocking chairs. There is no pool, but guests can use a pool at a nearby motel. Entrance to the Teddy Roosevelt National... More

Wow! If only all national parks had such a great hotel! We stayed in one of the newer tower rooms, and we can echo many of the comments about its comfort and beauty. The restaurant is a bit pricey, but the food is great--probably the best we had on our two-week Western trip. Don't miss the bison osso bucco. The... More
