I've been to this inn on a number of occasions. It's centrally located in Newport and has access to all the bars/ restaurants on Thames Street. The prices for the rooms are a steal through out the year. The inn keeper is a friendly man who's always willing to help out to fit your needs.

The John Banister Mansion is a phenomenal place to stay in Newport. It is just a block away from shops and fine dining. You really cannot beat this location! Stayed here for the boat show. It is in a great location very close to the wharfs. It was also much less expensive then other accommodations in the same location. This inn was a great get away in the middle of Newport. The hotel had a sense of place and history with all of its nautical seacaptain paintings and antiques. Large suite with several beds, fireplaces, very cosy with original nautical art and period antiques, free parking, very friendly staff! Fresh flowers everyday in our bedroom! One block from waterfront! Great value!

This hotel / B&B without the breakfast has a lot of potential. It is presently SLOWLY undergoing renovation. I get the impression that the owner is lacking the necessary funds to make this a really nice place. Examples, rooms are not properly furnished or cleaned.
