I forgot to write up this great B&B from our stay in early December 2011. The room was charming with a very high (and comfortable) poster bed. The breakfast was great and fortified us well for our flight that morning. If we are lucky enough to return to Newport, would definitely return to Marshall Slocum Guest House.

It was easy to chose the Marshall Slocum guest house because I didn't see anything else for the price, private ensuite, queen bed, and including breakfast with outside dining in Newport, when I booked. We stayed in room 2 on the second floor, which had two windows facing either the side or backyard of the house. It was roomy, had... More

We had intended to leave Newport during the day but decided at the last moment to stay another night. The previous evening had been a delightful stay at another B&B and we considered trying there for another night, but decided to mix it up. Innkeeper Mark gave us a great rate and helped us settle in. He also provided a... More

We stayed for four nights and having stayed in numerous B & Bs around the world, found this to be excellent. Mark is an excellent host and cooks a great breakfast! The location is ideal, a short work into town or for the cliff walk. There is mention of the 'dreaded room 6', well thats where we stayed and it... More

Owner Mark was very rude and did not make us feel welcomed. Inn itself was great. Very clean. Some rooms seem much better than others. If inn keepers were kinder and more social, would have made for a great trip!

On our previous trips to Newport, Rhode Island we stayed at a chain hotel to accumulate points, which was located in Middletown and not close to any favorite attractions. This time a search on Trip Advisor for a nice bed and breakfast resulted in the Marshall Slocum Guest House. And it truly is a guest house: you are made to... More

Cute B&B conveniently located 10min from the mansions and 10 min from town. Mark was very friendly and cooked an excellent and varied breakfast. We had the "Snuggery" which was good value for the price. It's very small but quite cute and romantic. Keep in mind that if you have a lot of luggage you won't have a place to... More

We loved our visit to Newport RI. Mark was very helpful on local advice and cooked a great breakfast, simple but delicious. Our room was very comfortable. Good location for walking in to the centre of town.

We really liked Newport and was one of the highilghts of our trip. It is a place that gives the impression of teeming with wealth. As a consequence staying at the Marshall was very good pricewise compared to a lot of Newport. We were in the Snuggery and it was certainly that. But there was a lot of charm about... More
