Armistead Cottage typifies what I think defines the experience of a bed and breakfast: a freshly made intimate breakfast, a feeling of home while traveling, and tchotchke galore. Now these things may not be a person's cup of tea, but the Armistead pulls it off with great aplomb. The house is extremely clean, as are the rooms, and the little... More

We stayed at the Armistead cottage on Wednesday and Thursday of this week. This was our first time in Newport. The cottage is located at a quiet residential area but still within walking distance from the Cliff Walk and the Historic Center. We immediately felt welcome and part of the family. Literally. Romana is a wonderful hostess, completely genuine and... More

Having read the glowing reviews here we were very annoyed with our stay and did not feel it was good value for money. The overall atmosphere at this place is very poor. The decor is dated, unpleasant and tacky/gawdy. It was not charming or romantic. Rooms felt dated and gross with lots of weird things hanging on the walls. The... More

We just got back from Newport and loved Armistead Cottage. Romana is funny and has a lot of interesting stories. She and Charles had great tips on restaurants and things to do. Bed was very comfortable and rooms extremely clean. We loved all the breakfasts and she makes delicious muffins and baked apples. We would definitely return! Corey and Tony

Our stay at Armistead Cottage was a very special time in a unique setting with a very attentive hostess. For one of us, it was a "first time" B&B experience; The other had some basis for comparison. We were both impressed. The home is warm and comfortable with beautiful furnishings and artwork. The room was quite romantic. Romana is well... More

Armistead Cottage was the perfect place for a stay in Newport. Romana is a wonderful host. She is warm and welcoming, accommodating and helpful. Plus she's a great cook! :) The B&B is a short walk or drive from the center of town, and is very cute, clean and quirky. I couldn't recommend it more highly!

Just returned from a repeat visit and can't wait to go back again. If you like friendly hosts with quick wit, this is the place. I feel as if I have just visited my sister whom I had not seen for a few years. Romana is the best host we have ever met while staying at B&Bs, and we have... More

Me and my mother came for a girls weekend and was greeted by such a welcoming, smiling hostess. Romona was pleased to have us and accommodated for anything we needed! Breakfast was very lovely and the perfect portion size considering we went to the Black Pearl for a seafood lunch later in the day. The fire place instantly warned our... More

It was mine and my partners first time in Armistead Cottage and we loved it. From the moment we saw the cottage we knew we had made the right choice. Its a beautiful, dream house, with a lovely swing on the porch. I felt in love with the house straight away. Its beautifly designed and furnished in very elegant style... More
