We have just returned from a Christmas holiday at The Captain Preston House. The hosts were warm and gracious in welcoming us. They were very informative about things to do in the area and gave us explicit directions to all the attractions. We asked many questions and they were very patient with us. The room we stayed in The Royal... More

It's a great little affordable B&B in Newport. The owners, Chad and Joanne were very nice and accomodating. We celebrated our 10th year wedding anniversary there. I found the house very cozy and inviting. I'ts on a quiet street running parellel to the busy Thames Street. It's walking distant to shops and restaurants. A home cooked breakfast was served in... In all fairness to Chad and Joanne, I think the other reviews on this site are off the mark. I found this B&B pleasant, clean, and very relaxing. And the central Newport location can't be had elsewhere for such a good price. I stayed at the Preston House for three nights after the Christmas holiday. Except for one night, I... More

My 3 friends and I have taken an annual trip together for the past 9 years. This year we chose Newport, RI and reserved rooms at the Preston House. The accomodations were only adequate. We checked ourselves in on Thursday, as pre-arranged. We had a small assortment left for us for breakfast on Friday which was also pre-arranged. We did... More

This B&B was very unaccomodating and unfriendly. No one was there to meet us, to help us with our lugguage (I'm 70 years old and had to pull my heavy suitcase up the stairs), they were also unavailable to serve us breakfast the next morning, just left us some rolls and coffee to drink out of styrofoam cups. When, because... More

My girlfriends and I chose this inn for our annual 'girl trip'. The innkeepers had told us they would be otherwise occupied on Thursday when we arrived, so we were on our own. They also told us they would not be preparing a breakfast on Friday morning but would leave some things for us. They left some muffins, one medium... More

My wife and I reluctantly stayed here after being priced out of the other hotels in Newport. We have a little bit of an aversion to B&Bs, as we tend to relish our privacy while away on vacation. We were therefore pleased and surprised then by the experience we had at Chad and Joanne's Inn. The good parts: 1) The... More
