Directly opposite Ala Moana Shopping Center, this old, dated building is very conveniently located for shopping, food and bus service. There's also a Walmart several blocks away. I had a room on the 5th floor.... was basic .. and I mean basic... a bed, table and a small bathroom with a shower .. all in need of a major overhaul, especially... More

Stayed one day and wish I didn't even considered it. I got physically sick from the dirty conditions; there's pretty much mold, must, and dust. If you have bad allergies like me, I'd avoid entertaining the thought of coming here. Also, it is more like a halfway house and the noise level from traffic is literally like you are sleeping... Situated at Ala Moana Center near Waikiki Beach this is the most important! It this a cheap and affordable place at a strategic location so it has many benefits. Across the road you can eat and drink in Ala Moana center. The penthouse on the roof is quite big and clean, do not expect a 5 star hotel at a... More

As i waited 2 months in Hawaii, for my condo, i was getting tired of paying hotel prices. I decided to play it smart (i thought) and move into the YMCA. just for a couple weeks. I realize this was built in 1952(?) but as i entered down the gloomy hall way to my (cell) room, i felt sick to... More

Being a longtime Y member, I was looking forward to staying at the Y in Honolulu, especially since it only cost $42 USD a night. My stay was disappointing. The room itself was fine: there is a desk, a bed, a phone, and shelves. However, the room I was given was extremely loud; there was some kind of machine whirring... More

I met a guy in a local coffee shop and he was nice enough to give me a complimentary pass (3 uses) to the central YMCA - so that I could continue my workouts while on vacation. All went well until I showed up after a 30 minute walk to the Y for my final workout. I showed up and... More

I stayed here-- at the suggestion of a local friend-- and HE WAS RIGHT.. this place is notign short of EXCELLENT.. A couple of things to point out.. This really is *not* a hotel.. so don't think of it as a hotel.. most of the people who "live" here are local residents who are just working or going to school..... More

Ditto everything the December reviewer noted PLUS you get use of their modern gym with free weights or Cybex or Nautilus machines, and the Olympic sized pool with lap lanes. I stayed in the room with the private shower, it was clean and even had nice big windows. What's more, I am early to bed and early to rise, hence... More

Where else can you stay in fabulous Waikiki for less than $50/night? You're going to be spending practically all of your time at the beach so why spend a fortune for a bedroom? The cheapest rooms are $35. The pricier ones are $55. Rooms are basic, clean, and you get fresh towels every day and your beds are made every... More
