Twizel and the surrounding area is stunning. But Sandy and Ian s will to host and make you feel at ease is truly unforgettable. Very open people, simple, honest and warm-hearted. We had a flying visit to Aoraki Lodge and can only agree with all the great things already said about this b&b. My only regret is that we didn't have much time here and had to miss the pre-dinner drinks due to a pre-booked visit to the Mount John observatory. This was our first trip to NZ and having the... I would suggest it would be hard to find a more welcoming and comfortable place to stay in Twizel than Aoraki Lodge. As we walked through the garden gate we were greeted by Sandy who, with her husband, Ian, are the perfect hosts. As with other guests we were invited to have a pre dinner drink with them and thoroughly... More

If you need to stay in Twizel, stay here rather than in one of the faceless motels. We only stayed one night but Ian and Sandy treated us like long lost friends, inviting us for a pre-dinner drink with the other guests. The room was nothing fancy but clean and with an excellent shower.

Sandy and Ian operate an excellent B&B. From the moment we walked into their garden we knew we had booked a special place. The bedroom and bathroom were clean and well appointed. We particularly enjoyed the glass of wine prior to dinner - this enabled us to get to know the other guests staying at the B&B. Sandy booked our... More

Due to a bad storm washing out the West coast highway we had to re-route our trip and ended up in Twizel. Seemed there was very little accomodation available until the Tourist Information office found us a room at this place. We certainly landed on our feet! Lovely room, beautiful bathroom / shower room and superb breakfast. Nothing was too... More

It was our pleasure to host you both especially with the difficulty you experienced due to the bad weather on the West Coast. We felt like the proverbial “port in a storm” and are delighted that you found our Lodge through our local Information Centre and enjoyed the experience of Aoraki Lodge Twizel. Thank you also for the Room Tip... More

I booked Aoraki Lodge in Twizel on the internet after reading some of the Trip Advisor reviews. It not only lived up to my expectations but exceeded them. Sandy and Ian are delightful hosts, they made us feel very welcome and they run a first class lodge. The accommodation is excellent, lovely comfortable beds, really spacious and modern bathroom and... More

We thoroughly enjoy running our B&B and the interesting cross section of guests we are privileged to host. Your review and photos made us feel very positive about what we are doing – we want our guests to take home wonderful memories of New Zealand and especially Twizel and the Mackenzie Country. More

We stayed at Aoraki Lodge in Twizel for 3-nights at the end of March during a tour of New Zealand. We had booked and paid for a room with breakfast on the internet a number of months in advance of our visit. Sandy greeted us on our arrival and showed us to room 3 which overlooks the pretty garden with... More

Thank you for your wonderful review and for reinstating how much we enjoy our hosting. We will never forget the looks on both your faces as you came through the gate from your trip to Mt Cook. It was a joy to behold and we are so pleased to have been a part of your adventure in the ski plane.... More

This is our second stay with Ian and Sandy and as before everything was perfect. The rooms are spacious with wonderful bedding and towels.
