I love stopping here on a day road trip from Queenstown. On a sunny autumn (fall) day, it was a delight to sit outside at the back of the pub having lunch (fabulous and good value!) along with other relaxed and happy patrons. Inside the fire is on and the service is good and friendly.

The hotel structure is very old. But don't let looks deceive you. The rooms have been updated to a modern touch inside. Beds are cozy. Carpet clean. Bathroom is elegantly tiled. This place made a great lunch stop for our drive from Te Anau to Franz Josef glacier. From the outside it looks quaint and old world-ish, but you would never have guessed that it hides such a lovely little beer garden behind. Love the indoor and outdoor fireplaces as well. Don't just stop to take photos outside. Step inside and immerse yourself in a little history. The first time we passed by, we called in for a cold one but we came back again for lunch. we stopped en route to queenstown for a cold one and to have a look around, quite a wonderful old place, very authentic inside, staff were very friendly, well worth stopping if you are passing, great pics also

We stopped here a couple of times for afternoon refreshments so can't rate the accommodation. The service was friendly and efficient. The beer garden is pretty and the pub has a lot of character. Unfortunately the whole place has a slightly run-down feeling as though it has been let go a bit.

This is a hotel that also has a bar & a restaurant. This rating is only for the restaurant that states that it closes at 2 pm but had no one to serve customers at 1pm.
