I was told that La Residencia Al Mar is one of the oldest hotel in Dumaguete so I thought that it must have been recently renovated as the interiors looks quite modern. Even the facade seemed very clean and refurbished.

Having stayed at most of the hotels in Dumaguete, I revisited. Why? Its not often you find service with a smile. The room was 217, which was clean and tidy. Hot Water wasnt a problem, as it is in most in Dumaguete. Wi-Fi however, one has to go in the foyer or downstairs to get a signal. I did mention... More

we booked this hotel under the impression that it was one of the really good ones in dumaguete. in terms of location, i would say that la residencia is hard to beat. but in terms of other things? not really. first off, wifi. doesn't reach the room. strange. we could pick up the signal around 8 feet from our room... Stayed overnight with family on Oct 31, 2011. I can confidently say that this is the best hotel in Dumaguete as of this writing. Hotel obviously underwent a major renovation recently and the outcome is unquestionably good for both guests and the hotel. The g/f is well-designed as the lobby shares space with 2 (?) food outlets (Cafe Don Atilano... More

Nice design ... Clean rooms ... Good location. But since you are in the center of the action you should expect some noise From the street night life!! . No breakfast .... Placing this Hotel in a price range above the others. . . .

The hotel is one of those that has that old house charm, appreciate-the-quaintness types - but not totally. I can't put my finger on it, but I think this hotel needs to define its character more. Me and my friends only stayed overnight, sure, not long enough to get to know a hotel's character - but still, one night has... More

Stayed for 2 nights in the executive suite room. Room was nice and clean, beds were comfortable with nice soft pillows. Staff were really friendly and welcoming. The hotel itself looks nice and is also clean and well kept. The only minor faults were, no kettle in room and room safe was not secured. Nice view of Rizal boulevard from... More

We arrived in Dumaguete at around 1:30am from our 6 hrs. trip from Bacolod. Since we were very tired and wanted to sleep already we decided to check in this hotel. We asked for the cheapest room since we only need a place to spend the night. The receptionist told us that the cheapest room was P1970 good for 2... More

My friends and I were originally booked in an inn around 2 blocks away from La Residencia. I was terribly disappointed with the rooms we were given in that inn and as I was the one in the group responsible for our accommodations, I was likewise embarrassed. I was worried that the mis-hit would ruin what was so far a... More

First of all, think twice whether you want to stay in Dumaguete or not. We decided to spend one night here encouraged by positive reviews Dumaguete being a vibrant university town and quite different to other provincial centres in the Philippines. We did not find the town particularly charming - almost to the contrary. This was the only town we... More
