We all travelled here from Teesside for a family christening. We found the hotel extremely welcoming,we ate in the bar and the restaurant and found both very good. The breakfast was excellent too.The staff were all very friendly and couldn't do enough for us. All in all a very good Easter break all helped by the Anglesey!!

We stayed one night in March at the Angelesy on a Saturday night. It was clean and comfortable. The cooked breakfast was excellent. Service was good. One disadvantage is that parking is on the street. The hotel has a restaurant but we did not use it.

Having stayed in many places in the Portsmouth area this was a find. My husband woke the owner up at 6 a.m. to book , so slight confusion but this place is on the verge of being excellent. However on arrival at the very grand terrace I began to feel like the "Hotel Inspector" , we found reception and there... More

Stayed for 3 nights recently on business. The hotel's public areas are good with a nice restaurant and a pub-like bar serving 3 real ales at reasonable prices. Ate dinner twice in the hotel and both meals were very good. Breakfast was good too though it can take a while if the hotel is busy. Area is very quiet. The... More

Stayed here on business, arrived late in the evening so did not eat dinner. My room had everything i needed, except no duvet, sheets and blankets instead. Original old windows rattled so had to try to plug the gaps. The hotel is going though a refurbishment so parts are still to be finished. There was a lift which was a godsend.... More

Stayed in the Anglesey hotel w/c February 6th, the hotel itself is still: work-in-progress, but the staff more than make up for any minor gripes. In all : a very enjoyable stay, the staff were friendly, helpful and cheerful, the food good and the service prompt, would stay there again when in the area. Thanks guys.

The Sunday roast my family and I had at The Anglesey Hotel was without a doubt the closest to a 'home cooked roast' that we had eaten, the staff were really delightful and the cost was very good.

We booked in to this delightful family run hotel as our son and one of his mates were running in the BUPA Great South Run in Southsea. I had taken advice from a friend in Alverstoke who had suggested forgetting about Southsea as the traffic would be manic - how right he was!! A simple 5 minute ferry ride takes... More
