One of the most comprehensive safety introductions at check-in I have experienced. Of no use to those know-it-alls who ignore flight safety briefings. All staff were very friendly and courteous. The dinner menu was of very high quality with all produce locally sourced and suppliers named. Dinner was very reasonably priced. Breakfast was also very good. The hotel has an... More

We ate here in February and considering it was 'off season' the food was excellent. Varied and interesting Menu. Good value, generous portions and a waiter that really wanted to serve us. We know people who have stayed here and have given it very positive recommendations.

The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful, particularly the front desk staff and the bar staff. The interior of the hotel is hideous: decorated in pale pink walls with deep red accents. The rooms are dated and accented with the same deep red curtains which give it the look of a bordello however, they were very clean. They set... More

The hotel claims to be at the "higher end" of the market - we were VERY dissapointed at the quality of the rooms and were very glad to arrive at our next hotel. We had vary little sleep - please be warned the front rooms of this hotel are let to families but are VERY noisey with drinkers stood outside... More

We found the Royal Sportsman on the internet, Though we hadnt booked in advance they had plenty of space for us for two nights with breakfast included. Mine was a business visit. I had been steered toward another hotel a bit out of Porthmadog but had already done a fair bit of driving so picked the Royal Sportsman in the centre of town. First thing I saw was the covered garage which saved me getting wet as I unloaded the car. The staff were friendly and the... More

Read all the glowing reviews, paid for upgrade room, would not have liked to see standard room. Arrived early ,1 hour, to be told room not ready, Told to fill in forms for room then car park, then internet, then they wanted credit card details, even though all had been pre paid, What a Welcome. Bathroom poor, mould, toilet seat... More

The Royal Sportsman Hotel welcomes genuine and fair feedback and provides additional Proof of Quality accredited resources, including a resolutions service for customers with concerns. This reviewer was contacted and he has confirmed that he objected to leaving a credit card for the purposes of guarantees for possible extras, and that he also did not wish to complete the guest... This is the second time I have stayed here, but the last time was a few years ago. The hotel is in a handy location in Porthmadog and easy to find. Reception isn't great - there is a very high desk which makes you feel a bit submissive as the manager/owner bustles around doing something with your credit card on... More
