Probably no more than three star, but we've stayed here about a dozen times (my wife's family is from Penang) and find that gives us comfortable and clean rooms, most with a pretty good sea view, and a perfectly acceptable coffee shop restauarant, although other than for breakfast we much prefer to eat out..

We stayed at the Hydro in February this year and loved it. We originally booked for 3 nights and enjoyed it so much we extended for 1 night (wished it could have been longer). A good architecture provides each room a a good view of the beach. The hotel is not exactly on Batu Ferrenghi, almost 15 min bus ride. The hotel's pick-up & drop service was handy to travel to Ferrenghi & georgetown. The hotel was well decorated for the christmas & had some good music playing.
