Robert and Glen always make you feel very welcome. Glen's food is absolutely amazing. Robert treats you as a friend who has stopped in for dinner. Dinner in the restaurant is frankly outstanding in quality, execution and quantity. This is dining which would not be out of place in some of the best restaurants in the country. The warmth and... The very heartily welcome is the trademark of this house. No rush, sit down and have a tea first. Everything state of the art. Clean cosy friendly simply perfect. Table nicely decorated. The only hair in the soup, the sirloin steak was made of leather. Presentation on the plate, everything else very good, but the meal itself does not keep... More

From the minute you arrive at The Smiddy and are made welcome, you know you are in for a treat. The high standard of decor throughout exceeds the 4* accreditation and the special finishing touches in the bedrooms and en-suite, you will have to visit to appreciate. The dinner and breakfasts served by the professional team at Russell's, the restaurant... More

Wonderful hotel, spotlessly clean and nicely decorated rooms. Very friendly owners who give you a warm welcome. Very nice hotel and great restaurant. There is not much to do in Spean Bridge, but there's a nice soap and whisky shop.

I cannot say enough about how special this place is. The welcome, ambience, decor, comfort, food, personal touches and presentation all made for a fantastic stay. Robert is a wonderful host and Glen is a superb chef. Just what you want after a long day walking in the pouring rain.

This is NOT a hotel, guest house or simple B&B - it is a restaurant with 4 letting rooms. The rooms are are very small but comfortable, clean and well furnished. What makes this place stand out is the friendliness and professionalism and attention to detail which is offered by the owners - the whole customer experience cannot be bettered and... More

This restaurant with 4 rooms is in the centre of Spean Bridge. The proprietor picked me up from Gairlochy (3 miles) as I am on a walking holiday. Room was warm and comfortable. Lounge room downstairs perfect for a cup of tea and some shortbread (home made!). Food is exceptional, and service top class. Breakfast was kipper and poached egg... More

The Smiddy (not a hotel; it's a restaurant with rooms) sits exactly at the point where the A86 meets the A82. We had walked up from Fort William, following the Great Glen Way to Gairlochy and then the B road to Spean Bridge. The welcome was spontaneous and genuine. Tea and cake (with a welcome glass of sherry) was served... More

I stayed two nights at the Smiddy House arriving on the Friday and leaving on the Sunday and throughout our stay we were treated to a standard of service normally associated with 5 star hotels, what a little gem this is. Our host Robert together with all the staff were the most professional, courteous, warm and friendly people I have had the... More

The owner has done a fabulous job, with attention to detail focused on the relaxed ambiance service & great food. My husband & I went to eat at Russells after reading the excellent reviews online. I must say the food was spectacular and we had a great night. Its such a cosy place I could have stayed all night. All... More
