We had fairly ambitious plans for our short (6 night) trip to Scotland, which involved spending time both touring the wild and beautiful West Coast and exploring the Speyside region. That meant making some real progress on the first day, driving north from Glasgow Airport. I picked Smiddy House because it was a good stop on our route toward the... More

Given that this is a pretty small community, how lucky are the locals of Spean Bridge to have this gem of a restaurant on their doorstep! You can tell from eavesdropping on neighbouring tables, that this is not just a place for passing tourists. The day we were there last, it was clear that many of the diners knew the... More

What a find! Tucked into the Highlands, although easily accessible, is this gem of a hotel with rooms. A really warm welcome from the charming hosts Robert and Glen, and more importantly- really great food and locally sourced! We happened to co-incide our visit with Burns night and a Gala dinner with wine tasting- what an amazing evening- a culinary... More

We have driven past here many times over the years, not realising what was under our noses. Having had indifferent experiences in other hostelries in this area, we needed a place to stay, and plumped for the Smiddy House as they have a pet friendly room. My husband being Scottish decided to opt for the dinner, B&B offer - what... More

The Smiddy and Russells restaurant are a must for us. We first stayed here about 5 years ago and have been back several times. It is spotless and beautifully furnished and being small just enhances the intimacy. We always receive a genuinely warm welcome and treated more like friends than customers. The restaurant is a delight to eat in and... More

We stayed here on saturday 04th February 2012.My wife and I stayed at this B & B thanks to a referral from a police Offier in Fort William. When we arrived, on the outside, the building looked as you would expect, clean , managed and inviting ( to say that you would venture over the threshold of the door). What... More

My first visit to the Highlands had the WOW factor beyond belief. Smiddy House in Spean Bridge was by far the best I have ever been to. The hospitality we received was first class, our room was spotless and the attention to detail was truly amazing it really made my weekend. The food was simply delicious too. Glen and Robert... More

What a great find. After reading the reviews on Trip Advisor and my partner wanting to find somewhere near Ben Nevis, we decided on Smiddy's, initially for one night but it was so great we ended up staying for two! Everything about the place was simply fabulous, from the greeting by Robert where he showed us to our lovely, spotlessly... More

This is without doubt the best B & B I have ever stayed at and I have been to a few over the years. Similar businesses could learn a lot by visiting this establishment. Great attention to detail and personal service from arrival to departure. Nothing is too much trouble and the food is just amazing. Robert is the host... More

Again we had another excellent night in the Smiddy, everything I love when I go for a night away, just a pitty more hotels don't take a leaf out of the Smiddy's book! Russell is just the perfect host again, we so enjoy all the stories he makes us laugh. Keep up the good work!! Glen is the best chef... More
