This is a splurge, and we spent a boatload here to end our honeymoon. Very much more relaxed people than Pangani lodge, and felt more intertwined with the local community. Were lucky enough to see turtles hatching around the beach: amazing. As soon as we got into the lobby, we were handed coconut shell drinks.... ahhhh, relaxing. The food and... More

My husband and myself have just returned from a wonderful 8 day holiday at Tides, to be honest we don't want to tell too many people about it so that when we return next year it is just as special ! First things first we flew in overnight to Dar and then had a small plane transfer to there landing... More

My wife and I stayed at Tides for 8 nights in January 2012. We found it the perfect place to relax. The beach thatched bungalow was always clean and tidy and had a very "African " feel to it. The Scottish Managers were there to greet us on arrival and were very friendly for the whole duration. They were both... More

After reading the T.A. reports, carrying out a lot of research and speaking to James and Alex Balfour we decided to make tides lodge the center of our annual, long march holiday.I felt very confident that it was the place for us, and in fact became very enthusiastic. We thought that we might have found a gem,and indeed the situation is superb,the... More

We are obviously disappointed to receive any negative reviews about the lodge as we do take customer satisfaction very seriously. However, with the best will in the world and with the best intentions it is not always possible to please everybody and we believe we do exceptionally well at pleasing the vast majority of our guests (3500 per year). Our... More

My boyfriend and i visited Tides in Feburary and stayed here for just over a week. We arrived in the evening to fresh coconut drinks and an amazing bbq -excellent king prawns!. We stayed in the Upepo suite, which is on 2 floors, very spacious with your bed overlooking the sea. It is set back from the beach in your... More

Our return to the Tides in February was not a disappointment, with 16 days of relaxation at this beautiful location. This small but intimate Lodge ably run by James Balfour is extremely well managed by Candy and Graeme who were always a pleasure to be with and are such excellent hosts. They are backed by a friendly and happy team... More

While we were there the power went on and off often and their backup generator was not working. Also we were served fish 3 nights in a row (cooked different ways, there is no menu options). We left one night early as we were in the area on business. The manager informed us that we would recieve a refund for... More

It was of no surprise to receive this review as this client, whom we are fully aware of, threatened us with such a review on our refusal to waive our cancellation fee after this client departed one night early without appropriate notice. We reject in its entirety all comments made as they are made with malicious intent. This client was... More

My wife and I stayed at The Tides for four nights in Feb 2012. The location is perfect with each bungalow steps from it's own private, secluded part of a palm fringed, white sand beach, overlooking the beautiful clear blue ocean. You can walk out and watch the sunrise as you take an early morning dip, take a stroll returning... More

We came here by airoplane from Zanzibar landing on a rubber plantation air strip and taking the Landrover through a small village to the Lodge. A really welcoming trip and drinks on arrival too. The rooms are airy and large - well finished which was appreciated after staying at Kichanga a few days prior. The lounge was lovely with social... More
