I stayed at this B&B for a week in late September & had a very enjoyable holiday. The 17th century house has been tastefully renovated to a high standard but still retains its old charm. My room was very comfortable & clean with lovely views of the surrounding mountains. There was a generous supply of tea, coffee & biscuits &... More

We stayed a week in Bagni Di Lucca and in this beautiful bed and breakfast. It's a perfect place to unwind and relax. Especially in the summer this little town is breathtaking. This village is situated at the top of a mountain and the view is stunning. When you get up in the morning and you open your window you... More

We stayed 4 great days in this beautiful house in Brandeglio. The village is amazing and undiscovered, as are the mountains around. It is a bit of a drive up the mountain, but you really get away from the masses of tourists wich overflow Pisa and Firenze.

I have stayed at this B & B three times now, I find the rooms comfortable and the breakfast enjoyable. The B & B is in the small friendly village of Brandeglio, which is situated at the top of a mountain. Once you have reached the top, stunning views are to be found. It is an ideal base to visit... If you want to experience Northern Tuscany this is a good location. Many winding valleys within easy reach by car. Lovely wooded walks to explore in the immediate vicinity of the accommodation. Spectacular walks with fabulous views if you are prepared to climb above the tree line. Bagni di Lucca is a charming village with interesting cafes and Roman remains... More

We spent a few nights at Castagni d'Oro during our trip to Tuscany and enjoyed the remote feeling of this tiny village in Northern Tuscany. The rooms are very pretty with a very comfortable bed and nice bathroom, tea maker and biscuits in the room. Whereas the breakfast offered plenty, the dinner we had one night was certainly nothing you... More

We are always open to constructive feedback and have made the following changes to address the problem: The TV in the other guest-room has been removed from the adjoining wall and re-installed on the opposite wall. We have also invested in two pairs of wireless headphones for our lounge TV. More

I’d like to offer a supplement to my wife’s recent review of Castagni d’Oro B&B, which I hadn’t read before she posted it. This B&B, situated in the tiny mountain hamlet of Brandeglio, about 40 minutes north of Lucca, lies at the very top end of a single daunting road so twisty, steep, and narrow as to make passing an... Why a 2-night stay in rainy November deserved such a long and detailed review, we don’t really understand. It may be pages from a long holiday diary, or maybe regrets at having mistakenly booked a couple of nights in a Budget B&B after staying 3 weeks in luxury B&Bs and agriturismos. It is certainly not a like-for-like comparison, comparing 3... More

We spent three weeks in Italy, staying at some fabulous B&Bs and Agriturismos. This place did not compare favorable with the others. We found the village drab and depressing, certainly not worth the treacherous drive. The accommodations were adequate, but the two dinners we had were mediocre at best and the breakfast was nothing special. We could hardy wait to... More

This short and rather dismissive review covers the same two rainy November nights as the huge, two-foot long essay “Each to his own” by ColoradoGuy_10 , which seems far more positive. We are not sure whether this couple enjoyed or hated their two nights with us or not. Clearly they had very different feelings one from the other, but as... More

We had a delightful 10 days stay at the Castagni d' Oro. Adrian and Louise are friendly and exceedingly helpful. The room was excellent with a fine en-suite and a fantastic view of the mountains. A nice touch was the biscuit barrel, raided every time that I made coffee or tea and always replenished the next day. A car is... More

While planning our trip to Italy, me and my girlfriend wanted to stay 1 week in the Lucca area. Although Castagni d'Oro is a bit of a drive from Lucca centre (approx. 30-40 minutes), it is well worth the drive to stay here. Located in the hilltop village of Brandeglio, it offers a great taste of the real Italy, a... More
