Just went in here for a meal as we wanted to stay in the town centre, walking in from the local campsite. We were the only diners on a Friday night in a large dining room, but there was more life in the adjacent bar. Plenty of late Victorian atmosphere (and furnishings, I suspect!) and a good example of a...

This hotel was not welcoming. Had to press button few times and waited ages to be shown room. Room had not TV and toilet would not flush until you pumped it good few times. Had to pay another £5 to get a room that had aTV and a toilet that worked. There were hoovers left all through the passages but...

Stayed here recently while working in boots replacing their boilers. Staff were very friendly and welcoming, management were very helpful. The breakfast was really good and the chef was happy to oblige with any request. I will certainly stay here again when in the area, and I am already planning a weekend break here for me and my wife. Thanks...

The food is exceptional and most of the meat is provided by the new owners farm which is just down the road....

Management dont really have much of a clue about running a hotel going by what i encounterd on my stay. Staff were friendly although i got the impression they didn't want to be there. Major work is required to bring this hotel back to its former glory.
On arrival we had to press the Reception Bell three times. After a long wait we noticed the Janitor's Bell on the Desk and let rip. A foreign looking lady appeared who clearly had limited comprehension of English or the whereabouts of our room.
The hall carpet was recent, and there the good news finished. A drab basic room awaited....

Stayed here as last resort. First impressions are this was a grand hotel in its day! The reception area is very run down with a random leather sofa abandoned! The reception is not inviting with holes in the plasterboard & dead flowers in reception! After a short wait we were checked in by a scruffy gentleman, who then gave us...
