This property is double-listed for the town, be sure and read both hotels (unless this gets Trip Advisor to combine them). Also, note how going back 6 or 7 years virtually every English-speaker had negative comments about the restaurant (I agree) while all native, German, speakers did not. This goes to different expectations and as an ExPat, I can understand... More

The hotel has all the right amenities but lacks spirit. The staff are distracted and unaware of customers. No water or wine offered with the meal and the half board menu was too restrictive. On leaving the somewhat dull restaurant at the end of a meal the so called sommelier was laid across the food serving area, very inviting! The... More

We stayed at this hotel last night; we wish we could have stayed longer. It’s a beautiful hidden gem, near Wendelstein Mountain. Staff were efficient and welcoming; accommodating all our needs with a smile (including complementary late check out so we can indulge in their spa before we head to Munich airport for our long late night flight). Few types... More

We stayed at the Alpenhof for 5 days over Christmas. We booked half board as we did not want to be looking for restaurants over the Christamas period. Good choice: the food was superb, like going out for a gourmet meal every evening. A cross between table d'hote and a la carte: no choice of first and dessert courses, but... More

I chose Der Alpenhof due to its location on a route I was traveling from France to Austria, and stayed 2 nights here to break up the drive. I found out about Der Alpebhof because it is a Small Leading Hotel. I am rarely disappointed with any of the SLH member hotels, however, I was in for a real treat... More

Der Alpenhof is not a bad hotel, but it’s not a great hotel either. The first surprise -that you can’t find in the guide or the website- is that the hotel borders a very fast road, where cars routinely drive at speeds above 100km/h. Standard rooms (300euros/night) have no bath, but just a shower for lack of space. Opening the... More

The staff are delightful and the hotel is clean. The decor is based on local styles and the rooms are comfortable: the balconies are private with their own seating. Unusually, one can also see the kitchen which is also clean although the food itself was not up to the standards of more moderately priced meals we had in Munich. The... More

Spent three nights at Der Alpenhof in Bayrischzell. From check-in to check-out the experience was a pleasure. A beautifully appointed suite, wonderful staff and excellent food. Certainly a case of you get what you pay for if not a little extra. You will not be disappointed

We are a family of 4 travelling from the USA, with a 9 yr old and a 1 yr old. We had booked a junior suite, but upon arrival found out we had been upgraded to the Franz Josef suite, costing almost twice the money, for no extra charge! Service was fantastic. The employees were very friendly and attentive. Smiles... More

Der Alpenhof is situated in a tiny village on the edge of the Alps. The service is consistently outstanding, whether from reception, restaurant or spa staff. We stayed for a week and were lucky with the weather, if it is grey and drizzly it is likely to put a downer on your holiday but with dry weather you are guaranteed... More
